Can anyone verify whether Chris Keyes is back on the team or working toward it ? He played high school about twenty five miles north of Lafayette, La in the town of Port Barre, and was quite the stud. I was disappointed when he left the team, and hope the rumors circulating around here are correct. In my estimation, he would be the very type of db coach Saban is looking for.

Re: Chris Keyes ?

I know I haven't heard it but , you never know . All through the Fall people were saying that Careg Bonner was in T'town and would be walking-on this Spring - didn't happen .

Re: Chris Keyes ?

Without getting into stuff that shouldn't be repeated, I'd be very surprised if CK can modify his behavior sufficiently to stay on CNS's team. If you couldn't stay on CMS's team, well it's doubtful. Maybe CNS will take him on as a project...

Most telling statement in Earle's post.

Re: Chris Keyes ?

My reply is not so much about CK as it is the head coach. When you have a coach that is not serious about discipline, then you are going to have players that don't take it seriously either. What that leads to is an environment where these types of players immediately live in the grey areas of team rules (where the coach doesn't get involved) and then the player's "momentum" of conduct ends up resulting in violations that no coach could ignore, so he gets kicked off.

Sometimes (not saying that CK is such a candidate) these types of players thrive under a system where they are expected to toe the line in all aspects of their lives. They follow the rules, then eventually it clicks with them on why their conduct has such a bearing on the direction of their future.

I know nothing of CK's past or present, just wanted to make another point as to why I prefer CNS's methods to those of previous coaches.

No problem. I agree totally that CMS's method of "discipline" leads to more and worse violations. And, while I'm not going to get into detail about CK's transgressions, there are some types of violations which throw into doubt an individual's ability to stay within the lines, even with optimum management, which is what I'd expect out of CNS...

Re: Chris Keyes ?

Saban does know Chris Keys well, though. He was committed to LSU and then switched his commitment to Bama once Saban left for the NFL.

Re: Chris Keyes ?

I believe Keys lost his scholarship and his spot has been awarded to another recruit. Should it be possible he comes back it would most likely be as a walk on.

Re: Chris Keyes ?

So is he walking on the team? If he does I hope he can change that attitude he had, because he would be starting right now if it werent for the mistakes he made. I hope he got his act together and wish him the best of luck whether it be with Bama or somewhere else.

most, and what i mean by most is almost every player on the team, and others that work with the team on a regular basis were never fond of keys. couldnt stand the guy and hated to be around him. i do hope he gets his act 2gether, BUT not at ua. i post this not to bash the guy, just to state that these walking-on rumors for keys to ua would not put a smile on many faces around here.
