Basically, by looking at the two different years it can be noted that the majority of these top rated quarterbacks don't turn out to be stars. And guys rated seventh have just as good of a shot to be a star as the top rated guy.

Amen to that! What struck me more than the names was the fact that I'd never heard of the vast majority of them. Exceptions here and there, sure, but for the most part, I don't know them.

So I'm with the minority...If Smelley is that highly rated and wants to come, sign him. I can't see that he has significantly lesser odds of success than Tebow. And there's no question he bleeds crimson and white.

earlier this week, i was reading in the tennessean sports that steve spurrier was expecting a visit by chris smelley on campus at usc this week and will probably be offerred a scholarship. i think that should tell you a lot about the young mans ability if steve wants him.

He needs to commit and say he will enroll. He will trhen get a late scholarship. He will regret going anywhere else.

Last night, against the "other" best team in 1A, Smelley was 24 of 38, 308 yards and 4 TDs, including the game winning drive with around a minute to go.

I've just re-thought something in this recruitment process. How set on playing baseball is Smelley? I know CMS doesn't really want his QBs playing baseball. He was reluctant to let JPW, but under the cirmcumstances, pretty much had to let him. Just some food for thought, since he already has an offer from the baseball team and LSU/OM are saying he can play both.

Thanks for the Smelley update. From what I have read Smelley is dead set on playing both and it will figure into his decision. That may be a sticking point. I know Tebow is one of the best baseball players in Florida and there is even some thought that he may get picked in the Major League draft. Good point about Smelly and baseball you are on it early this morning. lol

In a perfect Bama world Tebow, Smelley, and Alexander would sign with Bama in Feb. 06.

true about both, but I think Tebow is one of the few who'd rather play college football.

We'll be anxiously awaiting some reports from Smelley and Tebow visits this weekend.

Who's to say that Chris Smelley commits to Ole Miss or Spurrier today and then 2 months from now Tebow decides on Florida and Smelley changes his mind to 'Bama? I think the coaches have thought of every scenario that we have and feel fairly confident they will get a quality QB when it's all said and done.
