Coach Kines

actually its corley that said that.

Did either of you guys read what I did? Corley did not say that if Kines was gone, he was not going to sign with UA. He said as long as Kines is there that Bama was still at the top. I do not take that as definitive that he would not sign. You talk about taking something and taking it to the extreme.....

I would love to see them keep him, but is just doesn't happen very often. More times than not, the new coach brings in his own guys, usually that is what has gotten him to that point. Unless your Saban, and most of his guys only work one place with him because they can't stand him for much longer than a couple of years. :)

Re: Coach Kines to UT

The only reason CJK would do well in Texas would be because he would have total control of the defense. Mack Brown is nothing more than a salesman. He does nothing with the offense or defense. All he does is give Michelle Tafoya some generic line at halftime and look interested during the game.
Secondly, the players CJK deals with now are saints compared to their guys. Look at their current and recent running backs (see: Ricky Williams, Cedric Benson, Ramonce Taylor, Selvin Young, and Henry Melton). All have had problems with drugs. The only one who was severely disciplined was Ramonce Taylor. There are obviously others but those are the best examples.
Not to mention just the city in general is a weird place--and they accept and encourage it. A couple of examples: First, there are tons of bumper stickers that say "Keep Austin Weird." Second, they do not fly the Texas flag because it is racist to hispanics. (I don't know why but evidently it is.) There are just too many more to even list.
Its a different culture and in the end CJK is just too classy a guy to be there IMO.

Wow, the state capital does not fly the state flag.

Who else thinks that Coach Kines gets this team totally focused for the Bowl Game, we win big, and he gets asked to take over the head coaching job? Is this totally far from the realm of possibility? I don't want to compare Coach Kines to Fulmer, but a similar thing happened with Johhny Majors. Not entirely similar, circumstances were different, but the roles being played were similar.

Personally I like Austin. I have spent time there and enjoyed it. I think it offers a lot culturally and we could all learn a lot from that. Not to say people should accept it, just good to see things can be different and good at the same time. But hey, maybe its just me and the fact that I am liberal. As for the state flag, well I don't know. There is PC, but that is a little extreme. I know the flag is at DKR for football games, but don't know about at the state capitol.

The Texas flag does fly at the state capital. Right underneath the American flag. As for Kines, I'm sure he'd fit in just fine. They have good barbeque there!
