You can't plan for when CNS goes to the lake....The coaching front will look markedly different then...who's hot who's not...

UAB has done fairly well with a promoted high school coach. High school coaches tend to go out of their way to help those guys. I hope he does well.

I became a HUGE fan when he played for the Braves.

He was GREAT for us in '92-'94



He's really likeable in general.

DJ came in as a freshman against a very good Notre Dame team on the road and had 439 yards passing, the 3rd most in school history. He was great from the get go.

Since then, he's had 1 game of over 250 yards passing in 25 starts. The issue, I think, is there's no one behind him better. Dabo yanked Kelly Bryant even though he was doing quite well as the starter because he had Trevor Lawrence in the wings.

I did not realize he had that kind of performance against ND, so I guess we have to give him credit for that. Even so, I guess that turned out to be his Stephen Garcia moment because he has done nothing noteworthy aside from that. More revealing though to me is how
Dabo has struggled whenever he has not had an elite quarterback.

I don't see it happening in the end but, if it does, I think the easy choice to replace him would be the Arkansas WR coach, whose name just happens to be Kenny Guiton (and yes, he's THAT Kenny Guiton).

Dabo has struggled whenever he has not had an elite quarterback.

As far as I can tell he's essentially Gus 2.0 wrt QB development. His great QBs stepped on the field as great, they didn't need any development and they had great play callers (not quite Sark vs BOB, but seemingly close enough of a downgrade).
