Chip Kelly is paid 40% as OC at OSU vs his salary as HC at UCLA.

For some it's not about the money - Gus has made many millions - but rather about what they want to do. I suspect many coaches prefer actually coaching rather than being a CEO, which is more in line with what a modern HC is.
I once was in a sit down with Malzahn and we got into a pretty deep conversation. One thing that stood out is he said, "I think you are in your coaching prime between 30-40. In your 20's you have all the energy in the world but you lack the experience and intelligence. After 40, like I am, I don't have the energy that I used to. But in your 30's you are old enough to know what to do and still have the energy to do it."

This was 5 or so years ago so I can assure you he has lost even more "pizazz" since then. He very well could just want to take a step back and call plays without worrying about fundraising and all the thousands of other duties that a HC is expected to do.

We open up 2025 in Tallahassee against the Criminoles and the Gus Bus offense.

My sources tell me that the Malzahn's reason for leaving Orlando was that he and Christie had never eaten at the Waffle Houses in Tallahassee and wanted to check them out. I cannot independently verify this.🍔
Sorry. That is only an ancillary benefit. I have it from reliable sources in NW Arkansas that Gus is wanting to launch a chain of dance clubs across the southeast, starting in Tallahassee. A lifelong dream comes true…

Neal Brown out at WVU, Jimbo Fisher mentioned as a possible replacement.
Neal had it made at Troy and probably could have been there forever, but I don’t blame him for taking his dream job. But he is basically Kiffin in that he thought the little success he had was an indication that he could handle anything at a young age. He is very arrogant especially after he beat Nebraska and LSU.

I do wonder however if him being out of the way that our game vs WVU might be back on the table.

So he needs a job because he's only worth $40million?
I was only half kidding. For guys like him it is more about leading a program again and getting that bad taste out of your mouth. Most successful coaches also would like to leave on their own terms and not when they were forced to do so. I expect all of the above, along with a few others I could speculate, play a much larger role than money in CJF's case.

He's only doing it for the insurance...😉
Fisher going to WVU could be the final nail in the coffin regarding him being an overrated coach...not than too many dispute that at this point anyways.

Rich Rod and WVU really blew it when they had their nasty divorce several years back.

He had the program on really solid footing and probably would have been an 8-9 win a year kind of coach for a long time there.

Instead, he left and both his career and the WVU football program imploded.

jimbo fishers contract and buyout is hands down the most insane thing to ever happen in college football

but mike norvell is trying to run a close second. Going 2-10 with a team after signing a 80 million dollar contract

If they wanted to go 2-10 they could have given me 800K and I think i could have gone 3-9
