I actually think their interim coach is an upgrade. If they were smart, they'd give him the full time job. Rolovich was doing well at Wazzu.Good luck finding someone better Cal... Or even better, move to FCS and you'll finally win some!

Yeah, Franklin is a great coach. Anybody who wins 9 games at Vandy is a great coach. He did it two years in a row. As for Penn State, I don't think that was a failure either. Penn State should be happy with winning 10 games a year, making the playoff most of the time, and occasionally being in national title contention. That's essentially the ceiling of their program. I actually thought if he stayed there 30 years he might sniff a natty, but for some reason they're not willing to be that patient. Have they forgotten Paterno didn't even win a national championship in his last 25ish years? Paterno probably would've been fired from Bama for that, but they're not Bama, and it would be unwise for them to pretend they are.I would, respectfully; disagree that someone like Franklin(or others) that reach the top 10/20 positions in their chosen career are "failures". Not everyone comes in first or is the rare individual like Coach Saban; I think there are only 3(?) active coaches that have won a Championship. Is making millions a year as a coach a "failure" in the eyes of your peers, friends or family? Is being a top 20 (but not top 5)salesman on a team of 100's a "failure".
Maybe we should have a little perspective?
JMHO
DeBoer did inherit a lot more than Saban did, but what DeBoer inherited was still a lot closer to '07 Bama than '15 Bama..Also, it doesn't matter how much talent you have if that talent doesn't fit what you want to do. That is most apparent when it comes to the oline. If you pay attention to recruiting, you can tell that this staff wants smaller, more agile offensive lineman. It's going to be difficult to judge the offense until we fully rebuild the offensive line. It was going to have to be done anyways, even if we didn't completely change schemes. It usually takes 4-5 years to completely rebuild an offensive line, and we are in year 2. Maybe we can speed things up a bit with the portal. I would caution not to rush to judgement with regards to DeBoerDude you’ve beat the blame Saban drum to death.
IF we lose the IB, and miss a 12 team playoff again, at what point does some of the blame start to lie at DeBoer’s feet?
Maybe if we miss next year?
Good grief.
You act as if DeBoer inherited what Saban did in 07 and it’s not even a comparison.
Btw, Saban played for the SEC title in year two, and won the NC in year 3 with an inherited situation that doesn’t even compare to what he left DeBoer. It’s ridiculous.
Selective memories. I do indeed blame Saban for the problems right now. The decline in the program became evident to anyone who looked.Dude you’ve beat the blame Saban drum to death.

I bet if you asked DeBoer right now if he could have the 2007 rebuilding task or what he’s facing right now, he would take the 2007 task easily. Want to know why? In 2007 HE had the power to determine his roster. Blue shirts, gray shirts, redshirts, kick off the team, all that power in his hands. He has no power now. Kids can leave anytime they want for whatever reason they want to.
Seriously, tell me exactly what Saban left DeBoer that was so awesome? A three play quarterback with terrible fundamentals? An overweight left tackle? The best players on this team came with DeBoer from Washington, a PAC 12 school.
I’m not saying DeBoer has been perfect, but he wasn’t given the keys to a kingdom like you guys think he was. He can’t overhaul this roster overnight like Ohio State, Texas, or Oregon. Just lost a commitment from a 4 star IOL because SMU had better NIL. I can almost guarantee it will happen again.
The problems on this team aren’t getting fixed overnight.
