Not long ago Saban made a comment (paraphrasing) along the lines of “if choosing between an NFL job or college job with college athletics in its present state, why would someone choose to coach in college?” His point being that kids are no longer motivated to work towards improvement and getting to the next level to “maximize their value”. The vast majority are only concerned with getting what they can get now. And if someone offers them more, they walk out in a heartbeat, hit the portal and transfer. At least in the NFL you know who have coming back based on their contract. In college you may need to replace 70% or more of your roster each year. Who wants that? There's no upside to getting back into coaching, but there are a lot of downsides. I've seen crazier things but I would be shocked if he took the LSU job or got back into coaching at all.
If CNS truly believes that and we know it had impact on his decision to retire almost two years ago, why would he want to jump back in it? It certainly hasn’t gotten better over the past two years.
