Coaching carousel 2025-26

I can’t see them going for Kd. They love the 3 yards and a cloud of dust up there and it’s the only success they’ve had sandwiched amongst bad years with more wide open offenses. The only part of the team that wouldn’t be a rebuild would be the d and qb. Everything they do is antithetical to what he does. maybe they’re offering 15 a year who knows

It is interesting that Deboer’s name keeps coming up at least in these particular coaching searches (Penn State and Michigan). I hope it is not too distracting to the team. And hopefully no water to it… I actually like him as a coach, and I don’t think I can go through another coaching search at this point in the season with all the other changes in college football. It grows harder to keep interest!

People putting DeBoer's name out there have no insights or sources. They are just throwing crap against a wall and hoping it sticks.

In a related story, there is speculation that my next girlfriend will be Scarlett Johansson. See I can do it too.

Fascinating. What’s she really like? I’ve heard she’s terrific!

As I've thought about it, it strikes me that a vocal minority of our own fans brought the DeBoer-to-Penn State and DeBoer-to-Michigan stories the traction they received in the media.

After the loss to FSU, there was a lot of publicity drawn by the group that wanted him fired on the spot. Nobody who mattered one whit was even remotely in favor of it, but that didn't stop the talking heads wanting a story and interviewing morons venting their spleens.

Now there are grumblings about the running game, Ty, and offensive struggles in general.

Well, when you have a small but loud group of fans of one of the most prominent programs in history feeding the media trolls, this is what happens.

It would make no sense whatsoever for DeBoer to leave, and I don't think he's going to. But on the small possibility that he does, that group gets to answer my favorite question: What now? Who are you going to get that will come and represents an upgrade?

We need to let Coach know that we believe in him and have faith that he will successfully address the needs of the Alabama football program.

I agree it's absurd, but to answer your hypothetical in terms of who we would go after as head coach, we would really be in kind of desperation mode and I could see us perhaps elevating maybe Wommack simply because he has prior head coaching experience.

I'm not saying I think that would be a great hire, but it would be kind of a stability hire.

Who else would even be left to choose from in terms of HC?

I guess we could sell our souls and go after Urban Meyer.

Or heaven forbid I suppose that Brian Kelly (god no...please god no) or Dumbo Fisher (equally god no) could be on the list simply because they have a lot of experience.

IF DeBoer were to leave we would be in a really bad spot.

I put this on the closed thread, this was a discussion ESPN this morning-.

On GET UP THIS MORNING, All 5 panelists say the coach they go after is Kalen DeBoer. Orlovsky said , don’t let him say no. I’m sure Portnoy will get involved. It was said they were very interested in DeBoer when Coach Khaki’s left. Also, it was brought up that DeBoer wasn’t interested in Pedo St because Michigan was already talking to him.
CKD coached at Eastern Michigan, too. Ypsilanti is right down the road from Ann Arbor. .

Oh yeah, he is from the Midwest🙄

This also fits their nonexistent narrative of "Alabama's unrealistic expectations causes them to fire people haphazardly."

It has - literally - NEVER happened.
Never.
Not once.

Consider this:
Penn State has fired two coaches DURING the season in the last 15 years.
Alabama has only fired three coaches - Ears Whitworth, Mike Price, and Mike Shula - in the last century, none during the season.

And yes, I know there was a good reason for the first Penn State firing, but it doesn't change facts, either.

The "Alabama destroys coaches" narrative needs to be retired until we have 2-3 coaches where we respond to a loss with a firing.

Alabama has fired 3 coaches in history.
Auburn has fired 3 coaches in the middle of the season since October 1998.
