Yes, I'm with you. I really, really want to upset Indy (never thought I say that about football) but even if we lose this game this season as been AN OVERWHELMING SUCCESS!!!We can flim flam around with the quarterback stuff, but this has been a phenomenal turnaround, and should be celebrated.
I was talking to my youngest the other day about how all the moving parts will likely change the way we view coaches and players historically. If he keeps getting into the playoffs every year and past the first round, its going to be tough to get rid of him.
He just makes me feel Bill Curry-ish and I just don’t see him here long term.
So, let me see if I get you wright.....Fun fact: "Misspelled" is the most misspelled word in the English language, and is still misspelled even when spelled correctly!![]()
You disagree how I am feeling? Or that he’s not Curry?Same as another poster, I hope this becomes a freezing cold take.
Also, I disagree with you, CC.
I have to agree with you about the vibe. The Curry vibe was always a "fit" issue and the auburn problem was the excuse to run him off with a brick. I checked his wiki and he was surprisingly successful. I, like you, hope that vibe fades and this coach settles in nicely for a long, prosperous stint. You disagree how I am feeling? Or that he’s not Curry?
I don’t want to feel this way I assure you. But the vibes are there. Hope that’s not the case.

IMO, to compare Bill Curry and Kalen DeBoer in any way regarding football is madness. They appear at the opposite end of any meaningful spectrum. You disagree how I am feeling? Or that he’s not Curry?

Not comparing resumes. The vibes of their Bama tenure seem similar and how they manage their programIMO, to compare Bill Curry and Kalen DeBoer in any way regarding football is madness. They appear at the opposite end of any meaningful spectrum.
Of the 10 coaches with 5 or more years at GT, Bill Curry, with 7 years, is the only HC will a losing record at 42%. Of the 10 or 11 HCs who spent at least 5 yrs at UK, Bill Curry, again with 7 years, has the lowest winning % by far at a pathetic 33%.
OTOH, Kalen DeBoer, has the highest winning % in the schools’ history at all of his 3 stops:
Sioux Falls - 95.7%
Fresno - 66.7%
Wash - 89.3%
Of course, the caveat is that he only spent 2 years each at Fresno and Washington. But still.
Remember that this is only his 4th year as a HC at a P4 school and only his 6th in D1 football as HC. He was a P4 asst for only 1 year as the OC/QB coach at Indiana. (That year Indiana had their most successful year in a quarter of a century, including a winning record in the BIG10.)
IMO, DeBoer <> Curry.
I understand where you are coming from because even though I loved watching our 89’ team play, I never thought we were as physical as Pat Dye’s Auburn teams. Coach Deboer is winning but we aren’t physically imposing our will on teams as compared Coach Saban’s earlier teams. As time moves on I am hopeful that tweaks here and there will reap massive benefits. We are in the playoffs in Deboer’s second year which is pretty good. Not comparing resumes. Yes and no. We are in playoffs yes. But instead of top 2 or 4, we have been barely out or barely in. And beating Auburn can’t be a top 10 metric we use. Because I’ll lose to Auburn every year if it means we are guaranteed of making the playoff. It’s not the 80s or 90s anymore. We aren’t recruiting just the state for the bulk of our team. So other than pride, who cares what Auburn does? Thats vintage thinking.I understand where you are coming from because even though I loved watching our 89’ team play, I never thought we were as physical as Pat Dye’s Auburn teams. I could not agree more with this. Wins and losses are much more fluky than earned. The home-and-home with OK is a perfect example - did we grind out a close win and a close loss? No, both games were determined on many stupid mistakes. There was no pleasure in these games for me, I want to see players do what they are supposed to do e.g. catch, block, tackle.Yes and no. I’m disappointed that we have replaced performance with this emotional “love” thing we have going. Field discipline is our biggest issue. Death by 1000 cuts makes all of our games close. And when we have big errors, it’s too hard to overcome. Because we aren’t seeing the same execution we had grown accustomed to

Michigan…that’d be a solid choice in a time of turmoil for them.

This would be a homerun hire for them and on the level of a Jim Harbaugh. Whittingham is a great coach and his teams play hard and physical.ESPN saying Whittingham seems to be the guy @

Penn State and Michigan are apparently both going to totally botch their coaching searches…and end up with the best options…This would be a homerun hire for them and on the level of a Jim Harbaugh. Whittingham is a great coach and his teams play hard and physical.
