Could Florida make the BCS respect SEC more?

Ok, so hear me out on this one. I was thinking about it this morning and I was just wondering, what if (and chances are probably slim) Florida ends up beating Ohio St. And I'm talking like pretty convincingly. Perhaps by 10pts. Do you think that the BCS pollsters (human polls of course) would start giving the SEC more respect? Now I don't like Auburn anymore than anyone else probably on this board, but taking an unbiased view on the circumstances a few years ago for Auburn, didn't they deserve a shot. Considering how Oklahoma embarrassed themselves against USC I'd say yes. Auburn deserved to play USC far more than Oklahoma did. And even then (with Auburn losing against USC hipothetically by say 3pts to 7pts) The SEC would've probably gotten a lot more respect then. So even if you hate the Gators (much like myself) I will find myself rooting them on come Jan. 8th simply to try and let the nation know that SEC teams are far supperior to most others. Opinions?

No.

It will make them love Meyer even more than they already do. I predict if UF were to win--unlikely imho--that the general thrust will be along the lines of "Coach Urban has restored good football to the SEC with his offensive genius...too bad the rest of the conference is hung up on history & defense & such...losers."

What I do hope is that Florida getting in will force the Big 10 and Pac 10 to move to a conference championship game.

They must win this game before the SEC gets respect. If we lose, the Northern Biased sportswriters will be blasting the SEC and saying that Michigan should have played them all along. I will be pulling for Florida Hard!!!

I couldn't agree more. I honestly think that every single conference should have a championship game. For the time being it would at least give everyone an extra game since there isn't a playoff. On a weird side note tho, would Mich even play Ohio St. in a Big 10 championship? How would they divide up those schools 'cause Mich and Ohio are pretty close I'd say. But nevertheless a conference championship should be ruled as mandatory for all conferences. And all independents should be forced to enter a conference (cough cough ND) so yeah. My 2 cents

Winning is the shureist way of gaining respect.

Don't count the Gators out of it, remember all the respect we got before the 92 NC game.

If Ohio State beating Florida by about 21 makes the BCS respect the SEC more then yeah.

The BCS is wierd and I don't like it.

I agree. Had this not been a Florida team, Michigan would have been in the BCS game. If Florida had the toughest schedule, why weren't they number 2 before the SECCG or at least ahead of the OTHER 1 loss teams? There was a little bit of "northern" bias that was obviously going on.

Everyone needs to remeber that the way the BCS and the MNC is set up that the reporters get a lot of self-grandizement with their votes.

I think if Florida wins, people will start to respect the SEC more and realize that a one loss SEC team is most likely better than a one loss PAC-10 or Big Ten team. So, hopefully Florida will win, it would look really good for the SEC.
