number 3....since i'm only reading it, i can't tell how much is his fault....can someone who's watching comment on that?

a question for those lucky enough to be watching it.

does our boy look calm/settled in the pocket? i know kc's OL has been shaky lately...how is it tonight?
KC's offensive line woes are going to be a big problem this year. First, they aren't going to be the offensive juggernaut they were under Vermeil/Saunders due to Herm Edwards running a ball control offense. Second, if Larry Johnson is going to live up to all the hype he's getting this season, the offensive line is going to have to come up big. Without Willie Roaf amongst others, I don't see Johnson and K.C. having the season that is being predicted.

All this time I wait for Croyle to make his NFL debut, and he blows it, for himself and me among others. I just hope he is better in the next game, if he is still on the roster.

Of course, Brett Favre had a horrible first regular season game against the Redskins while he was a Falcon. First pass was an interception for a TD.

Unless he is injured the Chiefs still believe that he is the heir apparant to Trent Green, so he won't be cut! He has shown them A LOT in training camp and this was his first ever LIVE game in the NFL, so don't worry about Brodie with the exception of staying healthy. He will be on the team and likely the 3rd team QB unless he does much better in their last pre season game and then he'll be the back up, although I look for him to be 3rd for a while, but they really don't have much better so it's possible he could be the back up.

Ditto on that. Also, if Herm Edwards was a decent coach, wouldn't he still be with the Jets? This is the same coach that pretty much ended Pennington's career by getting him killed on every play. The OL for KC sucks and I don't see it getting better as long as the biggest loser on the field is the HC.

KC has one of the best o-lines in the NFL. He was playing with the backups and the ones most likely to get cut. You got to understand thats how preseason is, he will probably have a better showing next week.

K.C. USED to have an incredible offensive line. While Willie Roaf was getting up there in age, he was still one of the best left tackles in the game. Now they have Kyle Turley of all people anchoring an offensive line built to protect the run while Turley himself is at around 270-280 pounds. As much as Kansas City will run this year, I don't know if the line will hold the entire season.

He just needs more playing time, heres alittle from the Chief's website.

Q&A with HERM EDWARDS
Q: What did you think of Brodie Croyle’s performance vs. St. Louis?

EDWARDS: “I thought he did some good things. I thought he got spooked a little bit out of the pocket. When those guys come after you they come after you now; they brought a lot of pressure. But I thought for the most part he kept his poise. I think he’s going to be a good quarterback. First time he played in a game. He hasn’t played a lot. He made some throws. He made a nice throw on the boundary over there to Webb who stepped out of bounds. That was a big-time throw. That was a good decision.”

The Chiefs led 16-3 at the end of the second quarter and had completely dominated the game. Things didn’t go as well in the second half, and that’s a concern when it comes to judging the quality of the Chiefs depth. The offensive line had trouble getting anything going for rookie quarterback Brodie Croyle, who seemed to handle his first playing time without problems.

This couldn't be any less true. Herm was actively recruited by the Chiefs. He is there because the Chiefs wanted him enough to give the Jets draft picks for him. In fact, the Chiefs risked more than draft picks by intentionally leaking information during the season about their interest in him. This is not allowed (tampering) for coaches under contract in the NFL. Herm took the Jets to the playoffs in 3 of 5 years. The Jets let him go because he made it clear that he wanted to take over for Dick Vermeil. Sure, they like Mangini, but that doesn't make Herm a bad coach...

Herm Edwards is a very good HC who has proven his ability in the arena...
