Crystal or Lee?

Crystal was better last night. But does Lee have more of a following?

Adam was better last year but the other dude won.


Im thinkin Crystal wins though.

I voted for MamaSox, but Dial Idol has Lee ahead. However, their site has certainly not been overly accurate this season.

I have not researched this, but have been told that for contractural reasons, it is often more lucrative for the better of the two finalists to place second becaues it allows them to make more money. If that is the case, I hope Lee wins and Crystal comes in second place. If talent is the governing factor, (and it is not, it's clearly a popular vote), Crystal should win.

To me, Crystal is the most talented and unique and Lee is good, but there are a lot of current vocalists out there that he nearly mimmicks.

We shall see.

With all these finales and no football, what will we do for a life? :wink:

I was and still am a big fan of Crystal, Lee became my dark horse somewhere around week 4 or 5 and he kept growing on me. I would have no problem with either winning and am glad they got it right putting what I think is the best 2 in the final.

My 2 cents and guess is Crystal wins.

I'm watching it now...tuned in just in time to see Simon take the stage. I haven't followed Idol for awhile, but it seems they've gotten it down to the best two this time. Crystal seems to be the most talented of the two, imho.

To me it wasn't the same without Paula, and it for sure won't be without Simon.

I think for next year's judges, they're bringing in a couple of guys from Fab Five (HGTV), Rosie O. and the Ghost of Liberace.

I first watched the show a few years ago when David Cook won it. I was really interested in it that year. This year, my wife and I hardly watched it after the top 12. I think Simon's getting out while the show's on top. I don't know...

But, based on the last three years, here is how you win.
1. Be a guy. While both genders watch the show, teenage girls are the major voting bloc. All else being equal, the cute guy gets more votes than any girl.
2. Don't start out too strong. David Archuleta, Adam Lambert, and Crystal Bowersox were the early season favorites the last three years. They all came in 2nd. I don't know about prior seasons, but I know Jordin Sparks was not the early season favorite her year.
3. Play the guitar. Since instruments have been allowed, the winner each year has played the guitar. I think it allows for more diversity in the performances (to keep you "fresh" for longer), and is also perhaps a sign of musicianship.
4. After that, just the other stuff - you know, sing well, don't be a punk, look somewhat attractive. Those things.

I've never watched a full episode of American Idol, but on occasion this season, my wife and I have watched 5-10 minutes worth before flipping the channel.

That being said, I don't really see how a girl with missing/yellowed teeth and dreadlocks made it to the finals. I'm not saying it's all about beauty, but jeez, c'mon. I didn't really even like the sound of her voice. She sounds like she's a heavy smoker.

Can someone please explain the appeal of this girl? I'd love some feedback as to how she got in the final two and why so many people have been voting for her.

Star, I guess we just have to disagree on this one .... IMO, Crystal has a hell of a voice and is very varied in what she can sing .... to each his own .... but that being said, Im glad Lee won .... I think he needed it bad .... Like Simon said, the kid needed a break

IMHO, Crystal has that kinda Janis Joplin vibe that many of us baby boomers can appreciate. Her personal appearance is just that...cosmetic....all of which can be fixed with the mega money she will soon be earning doing that which she loves to do.

On a side note: I woulda whooped someone's arse for making me sing with Joe Cocker. Who can sing with Joe Cocker anyway? I can only imagine how hard that was....but Crystal carried both Joe Cocker and Lee through that song. Really CARRIED them. I can't begin to fathom how bad that song would have been without her!

Watching 5-10 min should really give you a complete impression LOL.

She does have an amazing voice. Her appearance is a non issue take a look at many rockers, they aren't going to win any beauty awards. A few thousand at the dentist and a makeover she will be a new person. Like happytidefan said she carried the song she and Lee sang with Joe Cocker and that impressed the hell out of me.

Great singers are great story tellers and at times she and Lee both got into their work and told a story.
