Heard today on ESPN that Bowden announced that Harper is benched.

As pitiful as they are playing it makes our win over them much less important. I sure wish they could have had a good year after we beat them. Bowden may be gone after this year if things don't change in a very big way. May be gone regardless.

Why does it matter if Clemson ends up looking bad the rest of the year? Some would say that we began their demise. They're clearly not what most people thought, but getting smoked on national TV to start the season has a way of damaging a teams psyche.

Regardless, if our team continues to win and play well, who gives a rip what Clemson ends up looking like? We're making our bones in the SEC, not the ACC, and winning in the SEC will guarantee a spot in the big show should we win out. Well, that is, unless you're Auburn.

You nailed it. They put all their eggs in one basket and figured they'd start their season off with a huge bang by beating a storied program like BAMA. The only problem was that BAMA is no longer the caliber of team that fell to Northern Illinois, UCF, Hawaii, LMO, MSU, etc. We have a REAL coach now, not a pretender who got the job because of his last name. Now THEY'RE the ones who has a pretend HC who has the famous last name and like Shula, Tammy lacks the leadership to right the ship.

I visited one of their boards briefly yesterday and they are a bunch of VERY unhappy campers. :biggrin:

Let's face it... Clemson is a bad team.

We faced them on a neutral field when everybody thought they were a very good team. Turns out they are far from it.

Still, we handled them easily which is to our credit, but that's about it. A good win, but not the shocking win it seemed at the time.

At what point will Bowden realize that Harper's not the problem? Until he can find a line that can block someone, it doesn't matter who is standing behind it.

I don't see Bowden surviving this year. Expectations were too high; his performance has been too poor.

I went to the Wake-Clemson game, and honestly, Clemson is a bad team, because of three major problems:

1) Offensive Line is awful at run blocking and mediocre (at best) at pass blocking
2) The team is undisciplined, lots of mental errors, penalties, etc
3) Terrible playcalling and game management

#2 and #3 lay squarely at the feet of Bowden...tough to know if #1 is about talent or coaching...probably somewhere in between. I'm convinced that Bowden should be fired. He would make a very good recruiting coordinator somewhere, but I would leave it at that.

Him benching Harper is a fairly desparate (and in my mind, amoral) attempt to create a scapegoat. Although Cullen has looked as shaky as the rest of the team, I cannot imagine any QB playing behind that line and dealing with WR drops and looking much better. When the OL was able to give 3 seconds, he typically made a play or did his part to make a play.

No, Clemson lost their manhood a long time ago...it was just shown again that night in Atlanta...Clemson is one of the worst coached teams in the country...A change is needed very much in the head coach department.
