He has to be announcing he will go to Bama. Why have another press conference saying what he has already said? All he has to do is sign the papers. Just my opinion.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

I did not get this feeling when I read the article. I just think that his dad is a smart man and wants his child to be happy. To get to that happiness point, he needs to weigh all the options before he makes his choice.

This is absurd! People who say things like this are heartless, spineless and stupid. I have checked out Cyrus' facebook wall and am mortified by the stuff I read there. You guys need to deactivate his account until this process is over. Good luck to him as he makes his decision.
Facebook is just what u can see.... his cell phone has been blowing... he received at least 1100 text messages....

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

Read an article on BOL and Cyrus is getting pulled different directions...
Father says he needs to go to school to breathe and clear his mind of the situation BUT his coach McGregor says he will have him on the phone with Auburn by noon because Cyrus owes them an explanation.....HA!
Sounds to me like Coach McGregor has a buddy.......

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

LOL :) I just think that NCAA Football as a WHOLE has unfortunately turned into a shady business and it is not "just Auburn". I think it is widespread across the board. I also think it only comes out if you are "on top" or heading that way. I still think the whole "Cam-gate" would have never been an issue if we would have been 3-4 to start the season. I think PFP goes on FAR more than any of us even know at all schools.
I'm not trying to get on you personally, but I have started to hear the "everybody does it" line from a lot of AU people. It seems a little disingenuous to me when I have heard for years that the only reason Alabama was where they were was because Coach Bryant cheated all the time. I have even heard a great story about Alabama's special astroturf shoes that CPB would not let AU have. It goes on and on, and it's never that CPB was just a better football coach than Shug Jordan, which by all measures is just true. Alabama folks had had enough in 1957, and they went out and hit a home run by hiring CPB.

I'm not sure you can have the cheating deal both ways. I have heard straight from an AU assistant coach's mouth about how they put a recruit from Bham in the Redmont Hotel for three days with a couple of hookers just so CPB could not find him to visit him and turn him like he turned Tommy Wilcox, who AU thought was coming there to be their next wishbone QB. And we all remember "keep it down home, cuz."

To play devil's advocate it could be just to apologize in general. But I do think that longer this drags out the better it is for Bama.

(One thing I have always appreciated about CNS is that he has consistently said that these kids get cought up in how much they are going to play next year, when what they need to be focusing on is how much they will develop over the next three years. IMHO, that's a much better philosophy)

Not Just in Football < But the classroom, they are one injury away from ending it all, that could be there first play of the game or practice, and if my brother was around me I would feel better, cause when I'm done nobody is going to mention my name, and just to be there with my Bro would mean alot to me. Just me and the way I think.

He has handled this whole process with class. I believe he would have a press conference either way to say why the delay and explain to Auburn fans (if he chooses them) that he just wanted to be sure that it was the right decesion and he knows it is.

If for Bama he wants to be able to announce that for the fans and tell what it was that made him have doubts and ultimately pulled him towards us.

That is about a text a minute in the last 24 hours. That is crazy. If I can ask a question to you magnanga_boy, what does your family think of the recruiting process that Cyrus has had to go through? Has he (or the family) become jaded toward the schools' recruiters or more specifically the recruiting experts at places like ESPN, Rivals, or Scout? I just do not remember someone having this much pressure on them in the recruiting game. For some reason, Cyrus' recruitment seems different.

I hate agreeing with an Aubbie BUT you are 100% correct here! As bad as we BAMA faithfuls don't want to admit it, this happens weekly at most every school in the SEC and that means BAMA too. Probably not to the extent of the possible 200K that Cam got, BUT the $100 handshakes, cars being fixed, dinners, etc.... happen all the time!

They all have this much pressure, Cyrus's just got shown out in the open. Its probably worse now for him though.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

Cyrus Kouandjio still hasn't made a final decision on his college destination and is down to the University of Alabama, Auburn and Iowa as of this morning. The prospect's father told The Tuscaloosa News that there are no plans to make an announcement until Friday at the earliest.
Kouandjio update: No announcement before Friday | TideSports.com

Got to get to class and wasnt sure if that was posted yet.

Hopefully the family gives Coach Saban a chance to talk to Cyrus again before he makes a final decision.

this might not answer ur question, but we look at everything.... we talk to the coaches, we read, we do our own homework online, we talk to different people. It's not just a football decision... those kids are Student athletes, not athletes students... so they are students first, so education is something we look at as well. We also know that college has a big impact on what type of man a kid will be in the future.... so we also look at the type of environment he will be in...

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

My niece talked to Brent's Mom yesterday morning and as of then he was undecided still. She said that he was going to go with the school that offered the best scholarship.

I always saw him in Bama gear running around the neighborhood fwiw.

Best scholarship???? By AU standards, that means they've added a little extra $$ incentive. I wish just one of these recruits would come out and say that AU offered money for me to sign with them. That would clear up all this scam talk.

Wow. Just wow. See who's side the coach is on. And it's not Cyrus's.
Here's the article. SIAP, I'm trying to stay away from reading this thread, so I don't get too distracted.

Cyrus Kouandjio's destination may be family vote; high school coach wants him to call Auburn | al.com

What I find odd is that the coach said Tuesday night he felt Cyrus would sign with AU, even though Cyrus wouldn't answer his calls. MB might be able to give us some insight on the coach.

Good luck to him and the family. Felt bad for him yesterday and how it all caught up to him. At least, in my opinion, he did the correct thing by backing away so that they could arrive at a decision that's based what's best for him. Still want him with the Tide but I have to admire how he is handling it now regardless of where he ends up.

This whole thing is beyond crazy...people need to just step back and give the kid and his family some space...whatever his decision, its his and he should go where he and his family feels is best for him. Fans all around need to back off. Just my $0.02

I would agree. I hate to tell you guys what to do magnanga_boy, but this sounds like a pretty solid idea given the current situation.

I'm sure his facebook wall is full of idiot comments from rival fans, Iowa, Auburn, and Bama fans alike.
I think they are all New Mexico fans. Man the arrogance of New Mexico. haha!

Really, can you offer proof of this happening "weekly." Do you realize how easy a "$100 handshake" would be to get recorded on a phone these days since everybody has one? I think you've bought into the propaganda that says "everybody is doing it."

There is a difference in taking advantage of loopholes and flat out handing out money. For the record, I can't prove it doesn't happen, but you said it so where is the proof that everybody is doing it?

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

I don't think we should be surprised at anything at this point. Throwing in Iowa at this point??? Wouldn't surprise me if the family just opts completely out of Auburn and Alabama because of all the pressure there and goes to Iowa. I feel for the family. I heard all along during the regular season that Cyrus was not really thinking about recruiting. I think this whole process just overwhelmed him. So I would not be surprised if he just bails on the State of Alabama at this point altogether.
