If it was Bryce Young instead, there would be several of us peeved that the defender didn't let go until he was tackled and his helmet was ripped off. If a WR can have a ball hit his hands and then close his fingers in a split second to catch the ball, then a whole second is more than enough time to "let go".
One of those things you practice for daily for years and are prepared for and expecting. The other is a completely in the moment thing. Those two things are not comparable to one another.

Did not like the head shoving incident later. He could have well cost his team a 15 yard penalty and another Ole Miss score. That needs to be dealt with.
I agree a flag should have been thrown that was 100% intentional and should never happened. I hope the coaches make him run a few extra stairs for that one. The other play looked bad and a flag was thrown but I do think it was not on purpose.

My wife and I both immediately reacted to it…it was a dirty play.

Doesn’t matter if it happens often…it was a cheap shot that could have been very costly.
It could have been costly it could have cost the game.

Cheap it was not in my opinion. It is common behavior in all althletic activities. Aggressive people play sports. They have to be to succeed at any level. All he did was remind the Ole Miss QB he would be there the entire game.

We can't say how many times he had been held or had a tackles hand shoved under his chin during a play or all sort of chippy things that can occur in a scrum.

From where I sit the face mask was due to his being out of control...I realize you want to get to the QB quickly, but a half step less speed, under control, and he makes an easy tackle/sack. The head shove -- that's just football...it isn't tiddly winks or golf...LOL.

Cheap, unsportsmanlike...whatever anyone chooses to call it, it was stupid and unacceptable.

I'm definitely not a bio-mechanics expert. But, I do know a baseball player is capable of hitting a 103 mph fastball from 60 feet away and that an athlete's fast twitch reflexes are greater than the average human being. Like I said in my previous reply, he should have, but he was going on instinct and the desire to stop the Ole Miss QB from getting away and that canceled out any other processes that could have possibly led to him letting go of the helmet.
...and 3 of 10 gets you in the Hall of Fame...and VERY FEW pitchers bring it 103.
Just Julian. LOL...

I didn't mean to do it, that's what I told my momma just before I got a whuppin, same goes for these players and coaches, if coach Saban doles out the punishment for this stuff it will be cut to a minimum, players these days go for the facemask more than they used to, lots of hands in facemasks ,eye pokeing and scratching, they ought to check fingernails before every game. Turner hung on to the mask way too long for it to be an accident.

I think Lane said something about it in his presser today..he mentioned Dart's mom and how he talked with her about it too. He basically was criticizing the refs by repeating what Dart's mother said, and then said he can't be fined for saying it because he was just repeating it. It was about several calls in the game, but especially that face mask and the pushing down of his face against the ground. I'm glad Dart was not hurt on that play.

I think some of the players are very undisciplined with the penalties. Hard to know if he did it on purpose but he could have let go quicker. I would hope it was an accident with the face mask .. but learn to tackle better and that won't happen. Pushing a player's head to the ground is uncalled for. I've seen it happen a lot this season with many teams.

If Bama would have just cut the penalties in half for each game, we'd be undefeated. Still don't think we'd beat UGA, but at least we would have made it to Atlanta to try.

Face mask was an "Uh-Oh" moment. It can happen to any defensive player as quick as a hiccup. I've done it and felt the same way as DT after.

Pushing Darts head into the ground was intentional. Heat of the moment celebratory kinda thing but he should have been flagged for it. If it weren't for our wonderfully consistent top-o-da-line SEC officiating crews,,,,,,

The present SEC sack leader, and 4th in tackles, is Drew Sanders. If you recall, after his minor injury, he was replaced by Turner, and thereafter entered the portal. Arkansas found a place for him as LB whereas Saban and Golding could not. Hate to inculpate coach, but this ordeal is unpardonable, and both are to blame. He was a beast and thrived on brutal tackles. Is Turner truly better at his position?
And where is C Leary, perhaps the fastest on the team, and after arguably the best player in the spring game?

Padreruf, using your post to jump off on the "out of control" part, which is one of Turner's calling cards in my opinion. In addition to this play, he was responsible for setting the edge on a number of the pitchout and sweeps and turned into the middle too soon allowing the runner to clear the edge. He has the "want to" but needs more discipline. I understand your point on tiddly winks but I'm in the camp that says it's dirty and as importantly, stupid if the refs happen to catch it.

On the facemask...that was ugly...but once you've grabbed the facemask no reason to let go and have him complete a pass downfield. In that scenario, it would be the completion plus 15 yards. I promise you that Dart would have kept playing if DT had turned the facemask loose.

Glad I'm not the only one that has noticed how DT fails to keep the play turned inside...repeatedly...every game. I really don't get why he's here and Drew Sanders is at Arkansas.

Turner outplayed Sanders when he replaced him last year.

I don't think he transferred because he was told he wouldn't be allowed to compete for a starting spot, I think he transferred because he didn't think he'd win the job.

Sanders is a very good player, but he's not as athletic as Turner, and Turner essentially stole his spot with the way he played in relief.

I'm guessing Saban and Golding would rather he stayed than entered the portal.

I think Sanders would be playing inside along Deontae Lawson by now...not going to say anything else.

The face mask penalty was not intentional. You’re playing, not thinking “hey let me grab this guy’s face mask”. Yeah there are intentional face mask violations but I would say a huge majority are simply a player grabbing trying to get a player to the ground.

Back in the old days when i played baseball (no I didn’t play with Ty Cobb..he was much younger than me 😂) I was running from second to third base. I slid late and went over the bag. Trying to reach back and grab the bag, I accidentally grab the third baseman’s foot, sending him flying threw the air. It looked really bad. Players on the other team were “barking“ at me.
Their coach looked over his players and said “guys, that wasn’t on purpose…he ain’t that good.” 😂😂😂 (and he was right).

BTW I was out. The third baseman came down on top of me with the ball in his glove and tagged me.

As to Kiffin’s comments, this is the thing that makes me hesitant about the possibility of him being CNS’s successor one day. Kiffin knows darn good and well that wasn’t intentional. And if he has complaints, handle it in the media like Mike Leach did coming off the field at halftime versus UGA. Retweeting tweets about penalties is childish and immature. Take it up with the SEC office. Don’t made insinuations that “Bama gets away with stuff that others don’t”.

Kiffin is always going to be Kiffin and come across as a spoiled, whiny little twerp. He is arrogant and brash when things work for him and whiny and pouty when they don't.

this loss affected kiffin more than i would have guessed

instead of complaining to SECoffice he is bringing Jaxson's mom into picture and not just the way Jaxson got face mask but insinuating that officials were biased
