(I just posted this and it was gone right after so unless theres a problem with it, here it is again.)

Not that it matters coming from the ESPN guys but it is surprising to me that Ken Darby is so easily overlooked. They just throw in Carnell and Ronnie Brown as All SEC when looking at the stats Darby deserves to be there over Ronnie Brown. Especially being the number 2 man to begin the season, then bumped to number one and taking the majority of the snaps.

Darby avg. 102.4 all purpose ypg with 9 TDs.
Brown avg. 105.3 all purpose ypg with 9 TDs.

Darby avg. 4.9 yds per attempt.
Brown avg. 6.1 yds per attempt.

Can't really say Darby deserved it over Brown....both had good years.

I look at it from the view that he didn't share the duties with another like Ronnie did. If it was a tough hard nose game it was his job the entire time to get it done. In my opinion Ronnie had it easier sharing the load with someone else better than he was. He also did all this as the number 2 back for part of the season where Hudson was getting most of the work I thought.

didn't you just contradict yourself??

So, even though Brown had better production than Darby while splitting time, you think he would have been worse if he got more carries as a starter????

First of all, he was overlooked in the SEC too, which is

ridiculous! They took Fason from Florida and Norwood from Ms. State over Darby for second team and had Carnell and Ronnie first team. Sorry, but that's just a joke! Darby had more yards than either Ronnie or Carnell and he only started 7 games!

He was overlooked because we have biased people voting!

Not true at all.
Cadillac rushed for 1104 yds and had 1646 all purpose yards-which lead the SEC in all purpose yardage. Cadillac also scored 13 TDs.

Faison led the SEC in rushing with 1173 yards and had 1399 all purpose yards with 12 TDs...

Brown rushed for 845 and had 1158 all purpose.

Darby rushed for 1061 and had 1126 all purpose.
He should have been ahead of Norwood but probably not the other 3.

In my opinion Darby should have made the second team. He was second string to Hudson until the Kentucky game. He played with a lot of heart and determination. The last game against Auburn he shouldn't have even been on the field because of his injuries if not for neccessity. Next year he will get first team.

2005 will be Darby's year to get a lot of attention. Everybody will know him and he won't be overlooked at the end of the season.

I guess you can look at it different ways but I look at the numbers that Darby put up and the situation he was delt. Who knows how many yards Brown would have had as the #1 back had Carnell moved on. In my opinion it would have made him a bigger target since you aren't running with a double threat like AU had. A defense keying in on one person like Darby vs. 2 very good runners makes it tough to run. Thats how I justify it.

I think what he means in theory is that CW helped RB in providing a 1 2 punch and he was not relied upon as a workhorse back as was KD. Thereby giving him fresher legs late in the game.

Hopefully we'll have the blocking up front to make holes for Darby in '05. With Wesley Britt gone, who's gonna be our point of attack to make those holes? If we have the hogs in the wings that can step up and do it, Darby will have a good year. If Brodie comes back healthy, he can take a lot of pressure off the running game and everyone won't be focusing on our running game as much. Lots of "if" factors to consider.
