DE / ATH Robert Nkemdiche decommits from Clemson

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Hoping for :biga:.

It has pained me to watch Clowney all year, knowing we were close to having him dominate at Bama. We could use a dominate DE that can get to the QB. One of the few holes on our team this year.

Don't feel too pained, you can't lose what you never had. We were never THAT close.

I thought he was quoted saying that if we played a 4-3 he would have come to bama no question. Sounded pretty close to me.

Okay. Even if that were true, which it's not entirely, the 3-4 isn't going anywhere so it's still pretty dang far.

After him saying that he was bored listening to Saban I was kind of done with him. I mean he's a phenominal athlete and all, and doing spectacular at SCe, but I just don't care for guys like that. Good for him for picking a place that he fits into though. Whatever works.

And for the record, I just feel that there's no chance in us landing RN. He's going to Ole Miss to play with his brother. I wish to high heaven that he came here or at least stayed at Clemson so we dont' have to play him, cus Ole Miss is gonna be really really tough with him, his brother and that offense they're starting to get going.

Yep, we'd have been awesome with Clowney, we might have even won a NC and getting ready to play for another....

;)

That there is funny.
Without particular reference to Clowney, it's like Coach Saban said: Some of these recruits need us more than we need them. (paraphrasing a little, but not much)

just an update

He has named his top four (Alabama, Clemson, LSU and Ole Miss)

and said this (which gives us hope i suppose)

"I would not necessarily say Ole Miss is the team to beat. They are a good program that is in the running. They are in the top three or four, but I do not want to say too much, because I am not sure yet."

I think it's still "I prefer Bama but my brother is at OM."
I don't think there is any question that his brother being at Ole Miss will weigh in his choice, and it should. But, professionally? This choice could mean millions of dollars. It might not, but even a couple draft slots could mean a lot of money. Alabama would insure he has the best development possibility, with Ole Miss the concern is more that they just don't mess things up.

I'm guessing a lot of schools are kicking themselves for not going after Denzel. He barely had any interest and not only is he second team All-SEC, but he could be the reason his team lands the top college prospect. I just hope Robert does what is best for himself. It's good that he has loyalty to his brother, but his brother is doing just fine. Ole Miss, even with Robert is going to struggle to be third or fourth in the SEC West.

Denzel didn't have the grades (I believe it was the ACT score and he received a good score two weeks before signing day.)and the new 25 limit rule is killing it for kids like him. Another case of the presidents bending over backwards to save face. Has any other league done this no, so the SEC is in reality handcuffing themselves. Denzel would have had more offers ,but you can't risk spots on numerous kids that can't make the grades.
