I don't own a jersey myself but no it isn't childish, it's a preference. I do however own a wide array of t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets and caps. You can't reach for something hanging on my rack without touching something crimson.

RTR!!!

When I was a kid growing up, I got a Bama jersey every Christmas. The only problem was I never got a number of anyone famous. Back in those days, my parents bought the jerseys "off the rack" instead of having the sporting goods store press the number of choice. Two years ago, I saw a white #12 jersey at Bama Fever and told my story to my wife. I guess she felt sorry for me because on the hext Christmas guess what was in the wrapped package? You guessed it, that white jersey. I am in my mid 50's and still wear that jersey. I even bought a crimson one during the SEC baseball tourney at half off. Wear those jerseys if you have one and if you don't want to, don't.

I think its childish to try to micro manage what people wear to support their favorite football team. People can wear whatever they want and its huaghty and condescending to tell people otherwise.

My husband hasn't watched a game in the last 2 years without his #22 Ingram jersey on. He claims it would be catastrophic not to have it on, and it has to be washed and ready by game time. The one game he didn't have it on? The Bama/USCe game last year. We were at the beach and I forgot to pack it to take with us. So there you go. Don't mess with superstition.

I never thought it was childish, just lame. I always associated people that wore jerseys with people that wore their hats backward with jean shorts. Then Julio came along. I'm not sure if I will wear my 8 jersey this year or not. It just wont feel the same.

I noticed at UA games, most of the adults are sporting polos. However, at UF/Ohio State/UCF games (based on experience) most of the adults are wearing jerseys. It just goes to show who the more classier fanbase is. :)

I used to wear jerseys when I was young enough to look good in them. (To give an age-hint, the sleeves were 3/4 sleeves, like the players'.) I don't remember ever wearing one to a game though. Mostly to Wally World, etc...

Age discrimination! I dislike most things that suggest someone is too old for this or that. Suggesting that the wearing of a football jersey in support of your team should be reserved only for the younger crowd is a good example. It should be up to the individual, and others should respect that decision. There are much more important things in life than targeting adults wearing their favorite teams jersey, a team that they have invested a lot of money into. Much more than those younger than 21.

I even love seeing seniors wearing Jersey's. It makes me believe that they are emotionally involved in the game. Life can become disenchanting as you get older and dawning a Bama Jersey can help bring back memories of when you played football and such.

Never considered it before this thread. I can't even comprehend why it might be considered childish. Does everyone look good in a jersey? No. But as many young people look bad in them as older people, so what's the big deal?
