Some where out there
Myself, I'm trying to imagine a Fisher coached a&m. Sumlin seemed to peek with Manziel...Fisher seemed to peak at fsu with Winston. It certainly will be interesting. I do think he'll recruit better.

Vileville may have to hire a sacrificial lamb. Someone to get them over the hump.:biga:
This is not a hump to get over, UT is in a ditch, in a dump and it is on fire. They need more than a coach to get them through. They need a rebuild from top to bottom. They need to get the boosters and admin idiots to get out of the way. They need a good coach and 5 yrs to build a program. They have major major issues.

His Wiki page already has him listed as the aTm head coach.

He has recruited Texas before when he was at LSU, so he should get back in the swing out there pretty quickly.

Recruiting wasn't necessarily the issue at aTm. Coach Rumlin not staying away from Northgate was a bigger issue. I expect Jimbo to develop the talent they have better. That said, they still lose 4 or 5 games next year as their schedule is brutal! Clemson and at BAMA the first 4 weeks. Then at Auburn, at Miss St, at SC later in the season. Not to mention having to play LSU.

Jimbo will be an upgrade for sure... However, an upgrade to winning 9 or 10 games is all he will do. I'd be shocked if he stays more than 4 or 5 seasons and ever wins more than 10 games. He won't sniff Atlanta...

Doesn`t sound like Jimbo`s going to even glance in the rear view mirror as he drives out of Tally.

He will quickly learn the boosters at aTm are unlike those at FSU! They make the meddling of Lowder at AU look like amateur hour... After 4 years he will be begging Sexton to get him out of the cult. Go over to TexAgs. Those delusional idiots think with him they are going 15-0 next year and being CFP champions. Might as well give them the trophy.

I'd say that's a step up for A&M. Not a world beater but not a bum either. I think he can field a very competitive team. This year was hosed the moment they came out to play Bama in the 2nd half.

FWIW, I think they were a mediocre team even with Francois. They'd have a better record but were not championship caliber, IMHO.

I think it's a great hire for aTm to be honest. How often can you lure a national championship winning coach from a superior program?

I'm not the biggest fan of Jimbo "Fulmer" - I'll admit to feeling sympathy for ANY guy who's wife cheats on him. No one deserves that (and vice-versa - no wife deserves a cheating husband). But at the same time, I can't muster tooooo very much sympathy for a guy who, IMO, pretty much "Sold his Soul" to keep a (cough-cough) "Alleged" RAPIST on the field so he could win a National Championship......

But Jimbo's "Win at all Costs" mentality is probably a trait that endeared him to the aTm money men, a group that's never been bashful about breaking any rule necessary or expedient to winning.

Guess the "Goodwill" in Tallahassee from that tainted 2013 title was pretty much extinguished by his team QUITTING on him this year....

It will be interesting to see how he fares in a program that's had a problem for several years now of teams fading down the stretch, considering he couldn't keep his FRU team on the same page once Francois went out....

I agree, and that's why I think this will be interesting to watch

Even with that schedule you mentioned? Expectations are crazy, and coaches may act like they don't like it, but those crazy expectations have also driven up the salaries to an astronomical level. Get fired after three years? Who cares? You made $15 million and shouldn't have to worry about money again. Stay with coaching and make more or travel the world for a while. Get another gig as an assistant and add to the piggy bank before cashing out and retiring at an early age. I'm guessing most of these guys don't really care about fans' opinions as long as their families are taken care of for a long time to come.

Jimbo Fisher to A&M makes zero sense. Fisher doesn't have many ties that far west. Hes a damn good coach, but A&M? Seriously? A&M? Don't get me wrong, A&M has a good program, but Fisher being there is going to be like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. I don't think its a good fit because you need a certain type of coach to coach ANYWHERE in Texas. There is a certain recruiting pipeline in Texas and if you don't understand it or know much about it, you're not going to be too successful.

There is a good ole boys wink wink nod club among the High School Football Coaches. You need to be a part of that "in crowd" to know who is who among the players. This is how Art Briles took these 2-3 star athletes and made them look like 5 Stars. Because High School coaches trusted Art and told him who the diamonds in the rough are. This is how you succeed coaching College Ball in Texas. Its different in Texas. Vastly different then other States.

Fisher better figure out that Texas recruit pipeline quickly or he'll be another Charlie Strong.
