C'mon folks! I figured we gotta have one of these and was rather surprised by the lack of "fall practice" stuff I saw on the board..

Anyway, this can be a place we discuss camp, scrimmages, and the development of our Alabama team leading up to Dallas.

Those in the know please post here with any insider updates or info you may have.

Just from what I've seen in our guys look like they are in GREAT shape. And it sounds like Tana Patrick may finally be stepping up into a contributing role this year. I'm happy for him. Additionally, we are very healthy as a team right now. I'm knocking on wood and crossing my fingers it stays this way.

Roll Tide!

Fulton, Norwood, and HaHa all look like they have filled out and put on some muscle. Deion Belue looks very rangy IMO. He's gonna be a turnover machine before he's done here.

One highlight from Saban's presser was that the team scored higher this year on the test (his word, I'm assuming physical conditioning test) than ever before. He went on to say that while it doesn't make them a better player, it does allow the guys to practice harder for longer periods. Let's hope he is right!

I saw this on ESPN and paraphrased what I remember.

Good point ** and while it's super early in the year I think this at least shows a lack of any apathy or comfort - the guys on this team want to make it THEIR team.

I remember a lot of folks on here saying that while we were going to be short on experience this year we would see a ton of talent and athleticism...maybe more than ever, considering CNS has gotten several recruiting classes in by this time.

I think it also shows a strong dedication to improving, and not resting on their laurels from a year ago.

What position groups are ya'll keeping an eye on?

I'm interested in seeing how the CB depth shakes out, among others..

Agree on CB, also WRs. I think the OL, DL, LB, RB, TE, and QB are or will be fairly set. But you never know.

Yeah, I wonder who we'd see featured in a four-wide set?

If I had to guess now it'd be White, Norwood, C. Jones, and Shinn/Cooper.

Actually, I have no idea beyond White and Norwood!

Bell?

He played a lot down the stretch last year. Also, played a lot in the NC game.

As of today, I think it would be Bell, Norwood, C. Jones, and Cooper/White. CNS has mentioned Cooper's name a lot since January. He must be talented since CNS rarely mentions young players.

Here is just a couple of quick hits on today's practices that I gathered from a couple of sites (just paraphrasing):

-Tana Patrick is working with the 1s at SAM. Hubbard at JACK. Depriest, Nico, and CJ alternating inside.

-Yeldon looked great going through drills which is no surprise. Incredible feet and great body control.

-Kenyan Drake is a little bigger than expected.

-Eddie Williams looked good. Long and fluid athlete.

-Darren Lake looks like a senior physically.

-Alphonse Taylor is still with OL.

-AJ looking sharp for the most part.

-Been hearing a ton of raves about Alec Morris. I know it was a limited session, and they didn't get to see much. But I have heard he looked great physically showing a strong arm and great release. Also seemed to get rid of a lot of bad weight he once had.

Maybe it was my crimson colored glasses but they really looked sharpe to me. Saban went over the same technique with the CB's 5 or 6 times in a row same thing each time. This is how he drills in in to where they don't even think about it on the field.

Barring injury the DB's will be just FINE this year!

Secondary without a doubt. The '10 unit had great talent but got caught with their pants down way too often. I know CNS is using that example to the max for this unit, as he should, and from all indications it's having a positive effect. Lester returning along with Vinnie's football IQ and relentless attack mentality is going to be a definite advantage as long as the new guys step up and allow them to play the ball as opposed to lay back and adjust for mistakes like MB had to do with the '10 unit. I know Petrino is gone now but the Arkie game will be one which I will definitely be focusing on the secondary. We should see a lot of dime package here. I think Knile Davis will be contained and Wilson will be forced to beat us with his arm. This game should tell us, and the rest of the SEC for that matter, just how well this young secondary is going to respond. And what about Bradley Sylve? Didn't this guy convert to CB? Anyone have any news on this speed burner"s development?

Man............ Sept. 1 can't get here soon enough.

RTR!!!
