If the holes are big enough...anyone can run up the middle. Our bigs up front should be able to give the RBs some daylight and the QB a little bit of time to throw the ball this year. What will be interesting to see is how CLK decides to use QB movement this season. He had BS rolling out quite a bit and I know Coker was doing it as well. Where your QB is in the backfield greatly determines how you have your OL blocking up front. You may have the best OL in the nation, but if the QB runs away from the protection, your blocking is no good. (2004).
These are some good observations! I second the opinion of the O-line being able to help out RB's in the middle of the field (look for Arkansas to test their mettle); from what we are hearing out of camp they are a consistent and talented group that should be a huge boon for those lined up in the backfield this season. On the matter of rolling the QB out, I also know some of that plan with Sims was to pull down opposing linebackers in zone coverage. Sims, who was a dual threat, rolls out creating a scenario where he could put yards up with his legs, causing LB's to respect his ability and come downfield to contain him, therefore allowing more opportunities for 1 on 1 match ups between our WR's and their CB's. If they don't bite he had a good chance to gain yards on the ground, and if they DID bite he had Amari Cooper in space, shattering their zone coverage. With a young QB behind such a big line I will also be curious to see what CLK does. Do you keep him behind big bodies like a comfort blanket? From what I heard it was Morris who was deceptively athletic and mobile? (Correct me if that is the wrong QB) Maybe a strategy that was similar to Sims will work there as well?
