It’s nights like this I really miss Trevor Releford and Ronald Steele. They could both go score 25 points any given night, but even when they didn’t they still made the guys around them better. They lacked Sextons raw talent, but they were team ballers. Sexton is a special kid, but there haven’t been many times this season where his presence has made the team better when his shots aren’t falling.

I would take a HEALTHY Ronald Steele over Sexton any day of the week and twice on Sunday. I would've said that three months ago.

Sexton is an NBA player. I'm at the point of thinking he never should have been recruited...

This is the bigger problem at hand. The tournament is window dressing in comparison to absolutely quitting when you've got the basketball world watching with everything on the line. How can anyone call himself a competitor to respond so poorly at the biggest moment?

I liked Coach Johnson's starting lineup and his early substitutions were staggered better than throwing in a whole second squad. Bama got fouled early and often when driving and missed a ton of shots at the rim. After that, the play just got ridiculous.

This was another game in which the refs allowed ball handlers to get handled but still, Bama does not have players who can shoot the ball with a little bit of a hand in their face. I don't think it is a case of the players quitting; I think they just can't make the plays at this point.

And the defense...ugh. UF scored some tough shots but also had plenty of open looks and layups.

I got tired this season hearing over and over how Sexton was the best player on the floor. Almost every game one or both announcers said this. They could not have been more wrong every time. The kid has unbelievable talent and his game will translate well in the NBA. But there were only 2-3 games all year where I would have said he was the best player on the court. The best player makes his team better. We have played much better ball most nights when he is not on the floor. Tonight was horrible because of the slump and the energy. But a great player finds a way to pull "his" team out of that slump. In spite of what the announcers say. This is NOT Sexton's team. I am not sure we have a leader. I thought maybe it was Hall at one point but he disappears some nights and is like he has never played before. If you want to know the player that is closest to claiming this as his team and plays his guts out for the team. Its Avery Jr.

Seems like that one more nights than not.

Wow, that was bad. I don't know what's happened to Hall, he just hasn't been the same player lately. It feels like so many of our players are pretty one dimensional, and most of those dimensions aren't shooting. I just don't know.

I agree. I don't even want him playing anymore.

I think Sexton gave more effort tonight than some of his teammates. I do agree the chemistry seems off with him at times, but he's competing.

We may be suffering from the same malaise that UK has..... Kids dreaming of the NBA and not having to earn it. Hall got some pub -- and then flamed out (though much of that may be his wrist).....

Outside of Sexton -- has anyone seen why Reese, Petty and even Jones were Top 100 players? Everyone was thinking Petty was the next Earnest Shelton -- well, that's not true. Jones played amazing until the start of February -- and then he seemed to peak.

I'm finally thinking that Avery may not be equipped to coach kids..... as much as we want to believe, he may just not be a great college coach. We are no better off today then we were when Gottfried or Grant left....
