I could almost agree with him, but with him having to put moves on people to get to the end zone I'm not too amazed that Mingo almost caught up with him. What do y'all think?
Wasn't even close. Even if he HAD caught and tackled him...it would've been a TD on the next couple of plays from the 1-2 yd. line. That had no bearing on the game. Sorry, big Fluke, but no dice on this one.

There's a thread on here with a link from a LSU fan discussing Mingo and Minter's pursuit of TJ along with the perfect setup by Alabama's players. Mingo and Minter busted their butts on that play to come close to preventing TJ from scoring.

We were down by 3, would have been in FG range with plenty of time and our backs?

My goodness, I feared we might have scored too soon at the time since LSU had eaten us alive on third down.

Yeah, I think DJ is forgetting how much time was still on the clock.
Exactly. The way DJ is telling it, you would think that there was less than a second left. At the very worst, we would have kicked a FG which would have sent the game into OT.

yeah, the pursuit was impressive and shows how quick he is, but he barely got a hand on TJs hip and at that point, TJ was at the 3-4 and moving fast. if he would have gotten more purchase, he may have caused TJ to stumble, but with the momentum that TJ had i don't think it was really possible for him to actually bring TJ to the turf from behind without fully wrapping him up, and that still wouldn't have been a guarantee.

i remember that my jaw was on the floor as soon as i saw him catch the ball with open field in front of him. at least to me, the second he touched the ball, there was no question he was in for 6
Same here. I'd just bought a big screen (my first) and when I saw it unfold I nearly went on myself.

I think DJ was just showing Mingo a bit of respect by emphasizing his speed. NBD.
I'm not saying he wasn't being sincere, but they were in Ohio and he was saying something nice about a friend who just joined the Browns.

Mingo's value as a DE was his speed, (around 4.5 I believe), and long arms/body since he was never that big weight wise. Looking at the film he reacted as soon as he saw TJ catch the ball in the backfield and took a good angle to be able to make a desperate dive but with TJ's momentum at the 3-4 yard line he would have fallen into the end-zone anyway.
