It used to be tradition that the freshman got their head shaved on the first day of camp. Did that not happen this year? Anyone know the story?

just curious.

Yeah...I believe Julio still has his locks. Plus...I know Mt. Cody isn't a freshman...but with him being new I would love to see someone try to cut his hair off.

All that said...Keith Brown was much better with a shaved head...just from my own personal observation.

d.j. hall too.

I remember i was a freshman when I saw Brodie croyle with a shaved head. I think I laughed at him...

Is Yowski still sporting the close cut? I recall an improved 40(oz.) time.

I don't think that "tradition" is around any longer, and I'm sure that has something to do with Coach Saban. I may be wrong, but as best I can remember, it did not happen last year either.

Frankly, I applaud the move. I know there has never been any allegations of any really violent and / or dangerous forms of hazing within the football program -- which is far more than you can say for many other college organizations -- but it's just the point of the matter. Having the upperclassmen haze the freshmen, even if it's a bit mild, will do nothing to help build team unity, which is a major goal of Coach Saban and the "process."

And besides, considering most of our upperclassmen know nothing besides loser walks in November and Shreveport in December, those guys should have far greater things to occupy their minds and actions than hazing the incoming freshmen.

Ouch!

And well said.

Enough about their hair, have you heard the music these kids listen to? The fella Elkfish Parsley, or some-such, from Memphis--he oughtta be ashamed at how he moves them hips!

I can't imagine having long hair and having that helmet on for the game. When I played high school football in the 80s, I had short hair and so did the rest of our team. I can't imagine the sweat and wet hair with some of these guys haircuts. I'm glad it's not me

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it's a penalty, NFL or NCAA, if a ball carrier gets taken down by hair that hangs around the shoulder pads.

Maybe if we saw more of that . . .

John Parker needs his Bama bangs cut in a BIG way. Such a handsome young man....but the bangs irritate me.:mad2:

I was at The Houndstooth after the UT game last year making my usual rounds and me and my buddy got to talking to a couple of girls. After a few minutes they asked me if I was from Hoover. When I asked why she assumed I was from Hoover, she said it was my haircut and referred to it as the "Hoover Swoop!"

Then you, my dear, may be in need of a cut.:)

When I played safety in h.s., I used to drive player's heads into the ground when they tried to block me by using their hair sticking out of the back of their helmets. May have not been the nicest thing to do but it was effective.
