From the Grove: Ole Miss Spokeswoman? / Student Representative? / Party Girl!

I thought the same thing at first and then I remembered that was me 20 years ago! LOL! I did have a goal of at least a 3.0 though. :) I also turned out pretty darn good, if I say so myself! She will be fine. Probably be a little embarrassed one day, but I have a feeling she will be AOK.

yeah, this isn't the first college student to get tipsy at a game

It certainly wasn't the drinking at a game that concerned me - it was her stated goals. She didn't just pull them out of the air - these were goals that she has considered and presented as reasonable. If her goal is a 2.0, she is wasting her money on that education. She should just get an apartment near campus and party.

Her goal in college is to maintain a 2.0 GPA, and party continuously through her college years. Well, I agree that you are only young once, and I doubt that this is going to hurt her very much in life, but it is still pretty sad.

maybe college is way harder than it was 25 years ago, but I partied so much as an undergrad that the entire 4 years are basically a big blur...and I graduated far above a 2.0. she's cute, she's half-sauced and she sounds like a total moron.

FIFY

Good grief. Glad she does not go to Alabama.

there are hundreds, if not thousands at Alabama just like her at the moment. This one just got interviewed

and a good percentage of their parents know exactly what is up and sent them off to Ole Miss (or UGA, FL, Bama, Aub, etc) to get married off. We called it getting their MRS degree when I was in school

Methinks she is there for her MRS degree ;) and a raging partay! LOL!! A 2.0 is a ridiculous goal for a GPA. I will say that she didn't look THAT intoxicated to me. She wasn't slurring, or stumbling. YET. haha! I'm not ashamed to admit I was a party girl at Bama--and I mean a going out almost every night party girl. I graduated with a decent GPA and ended up getting a law degree. I learned valuable lessons about how I want my children to act when they move out of the nest--NOT like their mother. While I wasn't a super serious student, I have life experiences that many serious students do not have. Discussions about that would need to be on the NS board, though. :p

As for the Grove, I would have loved that place in college!

Meh - not much has changed in the 30+ years since I was in college (but not at Ole Miss!)

As has been proven countless times ...... she's cute; she'll get by.

She's cute now. But, that girl isn't going to age well. I knew 50 girls in college that looked like her and they all look like feet now. And, the partying isn't going to help with that, either. She needs to slow down a bit and start taking care of herself to forestall the inevitable.

"Rode hard and put up wet"

Maybe my perspective here is agreeable if slightly different.

She's cute, she'll find some dude there, and probably grow up to be a senator's wife or something. And this gal is at every campus in the country INCLUDING UA. My father-in-law, who has never set foot in a college classroom, said this wasn't even worthy of mockery. But what perturbs me about this is it strikes me as another case of Texas (state) arrogance.

"Hey, look at this drunken fool from Mississippi who's an idiot. Look how stupid they are."

It doesn't offend me in terms of stupidity but it looks to me like a "we are better than these clowns," and they really aren't.

Actually, she's from Texas - Houston, in fact.
