Fulmer said his wife, Vicky, has not urged him to retire.

"She's never said the first word about it," Fulmer said.
I have to wonder about this quote. I don't feel like digging it up, but I swear a year or two ago when the heat first started being turned up on him, he told a story of flying back on the plan from their NC in 1999 and Vicky saying "Why don't you call it quits, it won't get any better than this."

More of his selective memory.

First of all, these contracts are nothing but proof of employment. Think Shula's raise/extension in 2006 and eventual firing in 2006...

Secondly, he wont fulfill the contract. H'ell get booted half way through. Keep losing to Florida and having to compete with great talent at Bama team for the next 4-5 years, he wont hang in there for the long haul. Having Fla, Bama, Auburn, USC and UGA on the schedule next year he better make damn sure he get three wins out of those five. The past couple of years it seems he has always done just enough to keep his job. But I think Tennesse fans are getting impatient.

This is nothing but speculation being killed in an effort to gain an edge in recruiting. Saban milked Tennesse for talent last year, taking advantage of the doubt surrounding Fulmer. The Tenn admin is trying to nip that in the bud. Kinda like the peace treaty deals that have taken place between Isreal and Palestine the past 20 years. Just putting on a good show....

Fulmer knows this. That is why he is saying positive things like "breaking Neylands Record" and "why retire when I love what I am doing?" All Spin....

On a side note; Eric Berry, safety for Tenn, is going to be an NFL hall of famer someday. Absolute stud. I thought it was worth mentioning. ;)

I think he has a big ego and wants to top both Neyland and Bryant in SEC wins. He will be carried out of Tenn kicking and screaming in two to three years. The sooner Bama gets a string of three in a row the quicker he is gone. I don't think think there will be a collaspe at Tenn but he will continue to win enough to keep about half the fans happy until that Bama string gets underway. Because he is a "great Tennessee man" it's going to be very hard on the fan base when that time comes, and a happy day in Bamaland.

I went to see a ut fan today. I said "congrats on the contract extension!" He said "what are you talking about? I told him "@$#%^ is signing a seven year contract extension this week.

You should have seen the look of disgust on his face.

Then I asked If he had heard about the earthquake in Alabama on CNN this morning. He said no "What earthquake?"

I said the news was mistaken it wasn't an earthquake. It was the a loud ROOOOOOLL TIDE!

I see much fun in the future for this Bama fan!!!

I'm an *** sometimes, but I am due believe me.

The more times we can put a beat-down on his gigantic posterior while he's at UcheaT the better in my book!

Having to play Florida, Georgia, and Alabama every year will get him fired within 3 years. It will be interesting to see how UT handles the move and how they decide to spin it.

I wonder if that daggar he buried in Johnny Major's back is laying around up there. What goes around comes ...............

I find it baffling that Phat Boy is about to get a contract extension...when it's only a mere 8 months after I heard a ton of UT fans calling in and completely bashing him after that 'Bama beatdown last year. 95% of the calls that day were "Fulmer's gotta go...we need a change...and we need it now"

Nothing sucks like an orange.

Party like a rock star. I agree with those who say it'll get ugly as the toothless ones come unwound. He knows way too much for them to make him angry, but at some point the losses will mount and they won't be able to keep him any longer. But hey, there's conference precedent for keeping three or four coaches on the payroll to make sure they stay quiet....

Great news, I say!!! Considering that he has pretty much owned us and beaten us like a yard dog most of his tenure, I definitely want to see him hang around long enough for us to at least even up the score.

As always, fatboy speaks out both sides: But what he really covets:It's not really about "enjoying the job" it's about feeding his massive ego. He wouldn't know the truth if he met it in the street.

Give me a break! Of course he wants to win the most of any coach. But he is not going to go around all T.O. like and Chand Johnson! And of course he wants to win another SEC and National title. There is no lie in what he said. He surely loves his job. I mean who wouldnt? He is the coach of the GREATEST SCHOOL IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL!
