Future Neutral Site Games...

I favor Tuscaloosa to any other city in the world but if we had our choice to play in any city/stadium other than t-town, what would be your top picks...

My idea for this hinges off of what Notre Dame is doing for their recruiting (i.e. playing games in Florida and Texas to build recruiting profile) but I would be more concerned with playing in areas of the country where we could build back our overall profile...

Like Notre Dame and Wazzu playing in San Antonio our opponents could come from anywhere...

There are a couple that come to mind but my pick would be Chicago-Soldier Field.

Any ideas

Within the region, it's hard to come up with a better 'away' site than Atlanta. Demographics, media coverage, and proximity to the core fan base all factor in. There are others, mind you, but ATL rings the bell.

I would like to see a couple outside the region--say a Northeast venue (Giant Stadium?) or a West Coast opener. LA (the other LA, not Lower Alabama or Louisiana) is loaded with solid football recruits, and the media coverage would definitely be there. Pennsylvania and Ohio pop up a few good ones, too.

How about a neutral site game with ND in LA? Or with TAMU in Cleveland?

I would not be in favor at all of an off site home game. I would be very much in favor of Bama requiring an opponent to host their return game at a neutral site. Such as the upcoming Duke game which will be played in Atlanta or Charlotte.

So I guess you are not getting excited for the FSU game in Jacksonville this year.

I'm sure when the new Giants Stadium is built in a few years that might be a possibility. I have heard Rutgers and ND have signed a contract to play there after the stadium opens.

What part of my post did you gather this from? The Bama-FSU game falls into neither of the two categories I posted about, although it comes closest to the latter which I am very much in favor of.

I would be more excited about a home and home with FSU than a one time neutral site game. I would much rather watch an Alabama game in Tuscaloosa, South Bend, Tallahassee, etc. than Kansas City or Chicago. Hopefully, we will soon have an opportunity to play a neutral site game in Atlanta each December! ;)

There are a lot of people here in Tallahassee who would like to see a home and home between FSU and Bama--even more so than the Jax game--and they're really pumped for the game in Jax. I can't want until they realize they're the visitors in Jax.

What do you think of this. I believe Bruton Smith has been trying to get the viles to play at Bristol Motor Speedway against Va. Tech. They have refused to give up one of their knoxville games. Could you imagine playing in front of.... say 250,000 fans? I think that would be a great game and it would open us up to some VA, PA, And mid -atlantic recruits. just a thought.

I have to agree, it is always much better to play home and home with quality opponents, who among us did not enjoy the Oklahoma trip to the trip to see the UCLA game. I'm excited about Penn St in the future and any other big program. The FSU game will be fun, but can you imagine how much fun it would be at BDS!
BTW I have my tickets for the game in Atlanta in December, heres to hoping we are there and I don't have to sell my tickets!!!!!!!!!!

The Oklahoma trip was a blast! It would have been even more fun if we could have held on for the win.

Playing the neutral site game w/ FSU was a great compromise/option to get the game scheduled, IMO. It probably would not have been scheduled in the near futher (10 years out or so, at least) had the two schools not agreed on this. I think it's better than not playing at all; however, I would have preferred a home and home w/ them.

How about FedEx Field in the DC area? It has the largest capacity of all the NFL stadiums, I think. If a home and home could not be agreed with say, VT, UVA, Maryland, or whomever, that would be great place for a game.

I would personally like to see the away game with Duke played at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte where the Panthers play their NFL games. Its capacity is around 73,500 and there would only be 5,000 to 6,000 Blue Devils fans. I would love to see that stadium filled with crimson, plus I would only have to drive 10 miles instead of 500!
