Game 1 WKU @ Alabama (Week of game discussion)

CKW talks about the Western Kentucky quarterback, TJ Finley.

"When you've faced a guy multiple times you get a sense of how he plays. Its helps to have seen before how he makes progressions and reads in real time."

I was wondering if he gets another year for Covid in addition to a redshirt year? Given Miami has a TE getting a NINTH year of eligibiliy, who the heck knows…
That's because of injuries though. The 2020 season didn't count for eligibility purposes, but TJ also played full seasons in 2021, 2022, 2023, and presumably this year. As long as he doesn't get hurt, this is his last year.

I liken this game to September 10, 1983. Bama vs. Georgia Tech in Birmingham. It was the first Bama game, post Bryant. I remember that game well. Of course, the vibe was different, as The Bear wasn't just no longer at Bama, but gone completely. This will be an usual feeling at first. Following a legend is NEVER easy. I feel SO much better about CKD following Saban than I did about Perkins following The Bear. Let's tee it up!! RTR!!!

I think Finley has been playing since Tubberville was at auburn, LOL. 2020 really threw things for a loop. This SHOULD be the last season affected by the free Covid year. That HAS to end at some point, you would think.

Finley only played in four games in 2022 at Auburn, therefore qualifying for a redshirt year. Western Kentucky has him listed on their roster as a redshirt junior.

Ahh, I stand corrected. I thought he played the whole year. He does indeed have another year then. Ridiculous.

But you’re right. It really is stupid. His fourth school in five years with the possibility of five schools in six years if he chooses to play another year and transfer again.

I heard this morning on Mac and Cube that WKU blitzes 46% of the time (led the nation last year). So we should be able to see something about pass protection and whether Milroe gets the ball out quicker.
That's really good. We need to know ASAP if JM is the new and improved JM.

And if TS plays, which I assume he probably will, this will give us a good opportunity to compare and contrast those two players (assuming the same offensive plays will be called for both).
