Gas supply in T- Town?

I'm coming in for the game tomorow.How is the gas supply at local stations?

There are NO GAS PROBLEMS in central Alabama!

The reports of gas shortages have been widely overstated! There were two stations in the B'ham area that had issues. One was a racetrack and it was out and the other only had premium left...however, those are the ONLY two stations that I've seen or heard of that have had issues. Most of the gas is also in the $2.89 range here. High, but not as high as I've seen and heard in other parts of the country.

Thank goodness. I've got enough to get there, but not enough to get back to Meridian if I can't fill up in Tuscaloosa.

You want bad, some idiot radio Dj gets on the radio in Atlanta Wednesday morning and starts telling everyone we are going o run out of gas, go fill your cars up now. Guess what about 2 million people did, so until the trucks come to refill stations supplies (and there are gas supplies available) a lot of metro gas stations are indeed out, its absurd. Gov. Perdue is ticked because on Wednesday night when the craze was going on stations were upping their prices every half hour or so and got as high as $6.00 a gallon at some places, so he is going to impose strick fines on any stations caught gouging, and I think he should sentence them to 10 days in jail as well, the fine might not stop them but jail time will. He also lifted through the end of September the state fuel sales tax, so that will help prices some as well.

Numerous stations...

are out in Huntsville. I shanghaied a neighbor and his van to go pick up a 42' bucket lift I rented for the weekend to work on tree damage (that's right, I sold my tickets for this fun). He has a funky gas gauge and thought he needed to put some in, since the vehicle gets around 10 mpg in town. The first station, Williams, was out. We got the last 10 gallons at Krogers (not good for his sending unit), and then found a second Williams, which was insisting on payment in cash in advance. On the way home, we saw the BP station totally mobbed at Five Points (for those familiar with Huntsville) and he wanted to try to pull in. I had to tell him I was not confident of my ability to maneuver a full-sized van plus 25' long cherry picker in and out of the crowd without running over someone. I fear it's going to get worse...

As one of the guys on CNN stated this afternoon there is NOT a gas shortage it is not like in the 70's. They are having to get the gas to stations which can be driven in if they have to instead of through pipelines, but there is gas and if people don't panic and go out and all fill up at once, but buy at their regular pace level there should not even be problems with stations temporarily running out.

Hey Earle I was wondering the same thing, if you are about to run out of gas then heck yeah go get gas, its when 2 million people who don't need it yet, run out and start mile long lines at the pump, that you create a panic, which is what the idiots in Atlanta have done. Another thing to keep in mind is that Europe has pledged 2 million barrels a day from their reserves as well, there is plenty of gas.

This neighbor...

didn't even realize that he was basically out of gas until I went to pick up his van. With two stops, we got 12 gallons in his tank at a cost of $36. Around town, that'll drive him around 100 miles. Fortunately, both he and his wife are retired and have another vehicle that gets better mileage. Of course, now I've got to get the blasted cherry-picker back down the mountain to the rental place on Tuesday. Wonder if I can gear my bike down enough?

in a 3.5 acre thicket, and I'm the chief grounds-keeper and arborist. At a certain point, it gets safer to attack the arbor from above. Another thought on the gas, this neighbor is pretty much a penny-pincher and he drove past a couple of stations with no line and sky-high prices - while I was offering to buy the gas. I'm afraid we'll be getting to the point to where price is subordinate to supply - until the madness stops and people quit setting up rolling storage.

Gas lines here in Mobile are running for miles & miles. If your lucky, your wait will only be around an hour and a half. Most gas stations are only open for a few hours before they run out of gas (and most are limiting the amount of gas you can get). This morning, my sister stayed in line for two hours to fill up her car and two 5-gallon gas cans for her generator. She thought she'd found gold -- at that station, customers were allowed to purchase to $65.00 worth of gas . The price varies anywhere from $2.52 to $3.50.

All gas stations here are surrounded by either police, the sheriff's department, and in one area of Mobile today, the FBI was called in. It's absolutely crazy.....
