The only good I see out of this pandemic, from an economic point of view, is that it is going to wake America up to the fact that just buying everything from the cheapest country is not in our best interest in the long run. We’ve got to get back to making things here again instead of outsourcing it.
This will never happen. People may wake up but, they won't do a thing about it. The companies doing the outsourcing do it for higher profit margins. Those companies will never accept lower profits which means higher prices for stuff made here. Americans will refuse to pay higher prices because, that's what we do. Why do you think Walmart is so popular? You have to convivence people to pay more for everyday items or convince the big companies to accept lower returns. Unlikely on both counts.

Where is this supposed downward trend that people keep talking about (a few on this board)? I don't see it in any of the data released. It is still way too early to open back up, Ivy should reinstate the stay at home order IMO.

i also think folks are seeing the national numbers plateau and trend down because of new york. when you remove those numbers, it's still trending up and it seems like we are about to see a bunch of new cases start coming down the pike

It has not trended downward in the places reopening. Of course, the president cast aside "his" guidelines to reopen anyway. Idiots.

Why must the morons be in charge? When the hell are people going to wake up to the fact that these actions have an adverse effect on them and those they love? The irresponsibility of this administration is appalling.

The NIH has not provided a clear explanation for its move to cancel the funds, which occurred April 24 and was first reported by Politico Monday, April 27. However, in email exchanges published April 30 by Science magazine, it is clear that the NIH was motivated by conspiracy theories that allege—without evidence—that the virus was somehow released by Chinese researchers in Wuhan, the central Chinese city where the pandemic began.

FYI - They are laughing at America, not just at Trump. And they're not wrong to do so.
Many of us would disagree with Reagan on deregulation and trickle down economics, particularly with the advantage of hindsight. It is likely, however, that many of us would agree with the astounding degree to which the prestige of the US has plummeted since then. Even to never Trumper's it is remains inconceivable to see the degree of damage this man has inflicted at every level of our society.
