There's no Big 12 team we Sooners would like to see you beat than CU. The "Puffs" are probably the most reviled old Big 8 foe we have.
Unfortunately, I am afraid they are on the rise now that Hawkins is their new coach. We're seeing some unsettling success in this year's recruiting that would seem to confirm that he can certainly recruit. Assuming he can coach & now exploit their obvious recruiting advantages, they will be a power again in the Big 12 north.
I'd love to get overs on them this year but we have no one to blame for our loss in the Flatirons but ourselves. Up 24-7 in the 2nd qtr, we were one poor effort on a deep skinny post by Iglesias from being up 31-7 & game over. As much as I hate to say it, I think the stubbornness of our HC may have contributed to this loss. We refuse to take oxygen with us & when you play @ 5300 feet above sea level, it can be very taxing, especially if your D can't get off the field. We were gassed in the 2nd half & simply couldn't make plays on D. even so, we win if Reggie Smith doesn't muff a punt on our 10 late in the game. He holds onto the ball & we run the clock out. Instead, their kicker hits a 47 yd. FG to win it as time runs out.
Boulder has always been a tough place for us to play & this year was no different. The CU fanbase is obnoxious & their student body is simply the worst.....from throwing snowballs with batteries in them & spraying ink on visiting team unis, to hurling empty wine bottles on the field during the game, they are the very worst fans in our conference. You probably won't experience this becuase they also travel the worst of any team in the Big 12.
Anyway, RTR & take Ralphie out. Oh, & get ready for the Fiesta Bowl. We need all the help we can get. If Bill Callahan called us "f***in hIllbillies", what does that make WVU? HA! I promise you, if we win, we won't burn any couches.....tip over a few outhouses, maybe, but never burn couches. We're simply better than that.
