Agreed, but #2 is going to be awfully hard with Saban at UA.
It's going to be real interesting to watch this whole Freeze deal play out if AU does fire Harsin and if in fact Freeze is their target. I'll admit, I do think Freeze would be a pretty good fit at that place. He would recruit good enough to keep them competitive and he did win some big games when he was at Ole Miss. But man are there going to be a lot of moving parts if he is their guy. First, will the SEC even give Auburn their blessing to pursue him in the first place? I have absolutely no read on that situation. But let's assume he gets the SEC's blessing...I assume that Freeze's ultimate goal is to get back into the SEC (or at least into a Power 5 conference) and Auburn certainly checks that box. But there really is a lot of negative energy both around the program in general and from a national perception stand point. Between the Gus situation and now the situation with Harsin, there is a huge spot light shining directly on how they do business down there. So is Freeze willing to look past all of that? He might be because the flip side of this is that of the schools in the SEC that I think would give Freeze legitimate consideration, I don't see any of them needing a coach in the immediate future. The schools I have in mind are UT, USC, maybe LSU, maybe UF, Arky, and maybe a few others. So how much would that work in Auburn's favor...who knows.....better them than us!

If they wanted someone who had the best record in the SEC vs CNS then they should have kept Gus. He was going to win 7-9 games most years with an occasional 10 win season. They could have saved millions (Malzahn) and possibly more millions (Harsin). They just do not get the big picture, and probably never will.

One aspect to the Freeze situation is his wife. Think of it from her viewpoint, they had a great marriage when he was a high school coach, he makes the big time and hires escorts for him to destress with on the road, then he has to come to Jesus, goes to work at Liberty and things are good again. From her viewpoint the question has to be asked, if he goes back to the big time, does he lose himself again? If she has half a brain she's going to nix a move to Auburn.
