Hello Tide Fans

One thing for sure, I will not call any Vol fan delusional on any coach they think they can get. I remember how delusional we were considered when we kept saying Saban. Nothing will shock me. Got luck on a coach.

Welcome. I, like most here ride on the same boat. My animosity is more at Phil than Tennessee as a whole.

I know I once posted here when Tennessee was playing Auburn that the earth would open up and swallow both of them. But i did not mean it. Much. well, maybe just a little.

Seriously, I think you guys will find a good coach, and I wish things had gone differently for Coach Phil Fulmer. The man spent something like 35 years as a part of the Vol-Nation and it is sad to see it end like this.

Welcome Blue, any friend of IhateUT is welcome on this board. It would be great if y'all got Cutcliffe but I know that is wishful thinking on my part. IMO UT can do a whole lot better than Cutcliffe, who by the way doesn't have any love on Tidefans either.

Welcome to the board, Blue Spring Vol. Like someone else posted earlier...we don't bite that hard.:)

What are you hearing on possible interest? Any new names beyond the usual ones, Leach, Muschamp, Cutcliffe, Kelly, Peterson, Kiffin, etc.?

Best friends with IhateUT????? How's that working out for you now? You're way more politeRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL TIDE

Welcome aboard, blue! It's a great place here. I think y'all should hire Franchione. :)

fulmer got what he deserved...if he had paid more attention to tennessee football and less trying to destroy Alabama he'd still be coaching his beloved school

fulmer press conference yesterday..." I want to thank...sob, sob, sob...the great tennessee fans...boo-hoo, boo-hoo...for their support. If I had...whine, whine, whine...just left Alabama alone and focused on...sob, sob, boo-hoo...on my team I wouldn't be ...sob, sob, sob...in this position today."

you sow discord, you reap discord...
you sow deceit, you reap deceit...
you sow secret witness lies, you will be disclosed...
phil fulmer has been disclosed
tuberville is next...

Isn't it so ironic that the school fulmer said would be out of business, the school he didn't want a level playing field with, the school that has caused more than one ut coach to be fired, the school he hates above all others as much as he loves ut, the school that he was a secret witness against is ranked #1 in the country the week he is fired.

The newspaper today in Tennessee will have fulmer on the cover and Bama ranked #1. I find that to be a perfect ending to his career.

Oh, welcome Blue Springs.

First, welcome!!!! We don't bite.....hard.

Second, I would love for the rivalry to become what it once was.....before all of the "put Bama out of business" mess that was the Phat one.

Yep, UT was once a tough hard nosed football rivalry and now that Fulmer is gone maybe I can concentrate more on the football. But, I sure will miss all the laughs that I got reading the great posts about him here on TideFans.

Good bye Phat Phil hope you end up at....man I can't even think of a school that I would wish him on. :)

:BigA: RTR!

Welcome Blue!

From what I heard yesterday from Clay Travis (Dead Spin) and also a writer who is traveling with the UT team this year writing a book about UT football that the guys from JOX call "Kicked in the Vols" (but actually titled "On Rocky Top") says that the number 1 guy on UT's list is none other than "Chucky" himself Jon Gruden! As some of you may know Gruden's wife is a UT grad and has family in East Tennessee and supposedly Jon doesn't really like Tampa and doesn't want to raise his kids there...at least according to Clay. He claims that it will be very similar Saban's denial for the time being but once Tampa Bay's season is over, will go to UT.

With that said, I personally think that would be a GREAT hire and would add even more credibility to the SEC! While it would sting a bit because Gruden would be a similar hire to Saban and he'd be a great recruiter, it would still be a great hire in my opinion if it holds true.

Anything could happen but I don't see Gruden leaving a successful NFL gig for a rebuilding gig in Knoxville. His team is right in the thick of the race for the NFC South and wouldn't be available to take up HC duties at UT until sometime in January at the earliest. Tampa is nothing like the rest of south Florida. It has a completely different cultural and economic climate than the east coast of the state. The people are ok, the weather's great, the golf is outstanding, the team is winning, the front office is happy and he's making a ton of money. Why leave?

Clay, whoever that is, needs to give me some of what he's smoking. Gruden bacically grew up in Tampa, worked at Tampa Hooter's as a kid, and his family still lives here. Coming to Tampa from Oakland was a very real homecoming for him. Unless he is fired, and the Glazers have shown no inclination towards doing so, Gruden isn't going anywhere. These people and their Gruden talk are driving me nuts.

Bingo.

And we're not just ok, we're spectacular.

i agree, i heard that interview yesterday. i think gruden would be a very good hire. i have reservations about his recruiting since he hasn't done that in almost 20 years, but i believe he would surround himself with great recruiters to take away that uncertainty. i know that he would unite the very much divided fan base, and hopefully with his name we would be able to hold on to this recruiting class. we'll see.

i have a question for you guys. i have noticed a lot of people here refer to fulmer as "phat phil". now, i assume you guys know that when you spell the word fat with "ph" it is slang for "cool". just wondering if you wanted to continue spelling it that particular way. just looking out for you guys. we wouldn't want any other sec rivals coming on here and getting a wrong impression, haha. (insert rib jabbing smiley here)
