Hmm... Do we now have a QB controversy?

I just don’t want to lose any of these guys to the portal and have to look across the field and see him lighting us up. All three would start just about anywhere they might go.

I think we have a starter: Simpson. We need to work the other two in situationally. Guaranteed to throw opposing defensive coordinators into a tailspin. And don’t wait until the win is in peril. Do it liberally. Think of how MLB managers will pull a guy off the mound who’s having a solid outing, after 4-5 innings now. Different *purpose* for it, I know, but if you’ve got the arms and legs to keep up the level of play or even take it up a notch, why not?

Ty may need to go pro after this year. I’m not sure we can sit Keelon next year.
Ty has played at a high level in 2 games this season. It wasn’t his play that cost the FSU game, and it wasn’t all him that pounded ULM, even in spite of the 17 for 17 stat line. That receiving corps showed up, and interestingly, minus #2 being on the field.

I believe there are situations like you say. But what teams want to avoid is losing the rhythm or flow of the offense. But sometimes maybe that's what needs to change.

I think it’s all up to Ty Simpson. Russell is a superstar who is going to get better as the season goes on. But unless Simpson goes into a slump and forfeits his job (like Hurts did with Tua), I think he will hold onto it.

I commented to my son that I haven't seen any QB in college football with the overall arm talent on and off platform as TY. He has been trained since he could hold a football on the entire process of being a QB and it shows. It has been a real challenge for me with his obvious talent to see him not getting opportunities earlier in his career at Alabama.

My opinion we should be talking about him making a run for the Heisman and Bama making a run to the playoffs rather than contemplating a QB controversy.

It is going to be a challenge managing all three... If they all return next year, we definitely lose on of them. I hope we don't lose both Russell and Austin...

No controversy though.

17/17 was good to see, but in addition to Ty's accuracy with some long throws mixed in... It is a testament to our WR corps catching the ball. I don't think that happens if Mr. Drops (RW) was playing last night.

I like this much better than a made up QB controversy just to get clicks.

brutally honest here, I just don’t see AM as the starter anytime soon. He is still very raw. I was impressed by the touch on the TE TD pass, and ball placement on the other TD . That said, he still lacks touch and struggles with ball placement most of the time. Plus, his scrambling is very awkward.
We don't see many successful tall golfers, tall pitchers or tall QB's in the NFL. Mahomes and others are prototypes. where speed, control, touch and preciseness are required.

I can’t believe Ty went 17-17 for 226 Yards 3 Passing TDs and a Rushing TD and I’m STILL reading “but did you see QB3!!” type comments.

Ty could not possibly play better or anyone else for that matter.

He set a damn school record.

Q3 is parked in the garage for the year barring injuries.

Ty earned this.
Well i remember Grayson Lambert (UGA) in 2015 went 24-25 vs USCe and 9-10 vs Southern too. Everyone was hyping him up to the moon and then we came to town and was never the same. So the question becomes “what happens vs real competition?”. We really don’t know is the answer

Chalk it up to the backups actually playing in the offense. It didn’t happen much last year.

Russell was a highly rated recruit who went even further up after he won the Elite 11. You can see the effortless throws in practice, but to see him do it against actual competition was pretty nice.

Russell has a long way to go, but head up , eyes downfield, throwing darts is a nice way to start.
