Re: Can Trump Really Win the Presidency?

So both Trump kids cut short interviews in the last 24 hours after being challenged by the interviewer. Ivanka's cognitive dissonance about her father's statements regarding women was notable, as was the inherent sexism to her proposal. But it was Trump Jr.'s immediate shutdown of an interviewer asking about fraud allegations within the Trump "charity" organization that was most impressive. There's tons of smoke to this story, and I bet the garbage fire will finally be revealed in the next few weeks.

So, is the possibility of "fraud" a good thing or a bad thing? Not even trying to be snarky here. Because I'm reading these types of posts as -- "see your boy has a bogus organization too" -- so, leave The Clinton Foundation story alone....

It's like arguing with your wife. She can have done 1000 things wrong....but if you have done even one....you are even.

Politicians are corrupt. I completely believe that 96% of all politicians are corrupt. To what degree? Some get a free meal, some get a free house, some get a free country to rule....but they are all corrupt.

But, this election won't come down to who is the least corrupt. It is going to come down to one thing....

Are you tired of letting 10% of the population run the show? The 10% with the biggest mouths, biggest pulpit, biggest exposure.....

For many years -- 50% in the middle stayed home, while the 25% on the right and the 25% of the left came out to vote. The middle 50% has officially tired of staying home...and are going to come out to vote like never before.

Which way they vote - is still unknown.....

But, I truly believe that what used to be the 2nd biggest DEM stranglehold -- Union Labor -- will be leaving them in droves....maybe not locally, or statewide -- but nationally, I do believe that they will lose them this time....

That only helps Trump....and may propel him to victory in Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Pennsylvania????

We'll see....

But, I don't think this year will come down to "he said, she said" stuff....it just doesn't feel like that kind of election.

I truly dislike Trump with a passion....because he's a blow-hard opportunist.....but, if he wins....it won't be the Republican's fault....it will be the Democrats that push him to victory....

Well, personally, speaking as a tax attorney, I really, really want to see those tax returns. Withhold the ones under audit, the last two or three years, unless fraud is involved. Let us see the past ones, even if it, as Jr. says, "detracts from his message." Personally, I believe that he's taken a calculated gamble. He knows he hasn't a snowball in hell's chance of being elected if they're seen. Therefore, he's betting he can talk in generalities and be elected without the American public seeing them...

There's a lot of truth in this post...

Then you're reading it the wrong way. I honestly don't think there's a story with Clinton's foundation. It's an actual charity with clear money trails and no legitimate indication of fraud after nearly a month of journalistic investigation. She's vowed to step away from it should she be elected president, which I think is appropriate.

Trump's organization/conglomerate has seen far less journalistic scrutiny, but what little we do know seems far more concerning. This is an organization that we know has committed fraud in at least one case, and was fined by the IRS as a result. It doesn't appear to be a charity at all, and is accused of donating a significant amount to an AG in exchange for her dropping a lawsuit against Trump University. It isn't an organization that can simply be taken over by his kids without profound conflicts of interest should Trump win the presidency. Honestly, this is a huge issue that has seen shockingly little attention.

You think I want the focus on Trump to divert attention from Clinton, but that isn't true. I want equal scrutiny of both major candidates, from health records to tax returns to potential conflicts of interest. So far, that scrutiny has been too one-sided, and I think that's a huge disservice to the country.

I'm involved in rental property ownership (my hands are really really small). My guess is that Trump pays no federal income tax. It's possible that he even gets tax credits for some of his developements. I'm not sure if his tax returns would show his business relationships with all kinds of unsavory people and nations. Probably will.

I think the media is letting Trump get away with lie after lie. God help us if he gets elected.

Re: Can Trump Really Win the Presidency?

even a remote chance of trump winning should make everyone nervous.
I agree completely, and would add that that if clinton is elected, everyone should be even more nervous. Just the fact that she is being considered is sickening. I don't even want to use the language necessary to describe these two.

Many don't realize the rapidity of the country's accelerating decline, but it's choice of these two presidential candidates tells any objective observer all they need to know. 😥

Re: Can Trump Really Win the Presidency?

What would be on Trump's tax return that would turn voters off?

That he didn't pay a lot of taxes?

That his income isn't as high as he claims it to be?

That he hasn't been as charitable as some think he should?

I wouldn't think there's anything illegal there......or would there?

Seems to me that he is wise not to release them if the only ones who are asking for them are his detractors....they are not going to vote for him anyway.

Can Trump Really Win the Presidency?

Here in NC the ads have started to pick up steam. The Hilary ads are nothing but clips of Republicans saying Trump is a moron and unelectable.

The Trump ads talk about how in "Trump's America" we will be the safest and most successful ever. Aside from the fact that I didn't realize Trump owned America like it is one of his casinos, it's like I am watching a caricature of a campaign. Except it's real.

Hilary is so unlikable outside of hardcore democrats that the republicans could have probably walked away with this election if literally anyone else was the nominee. But no. Somehow they managed to one-up the democrats and nominate a living cartoon for president. Hillary's recent health problems could have made a huge difference. But instead I imagine undecided voters (who lean democrat anyway IMO) will say "Hillary may die, but at least Tim Kaine is a real person". This election seriously depresses me.
