Just a middle-aged guy living in Mississippi who has kept up with the Crimson Tide since '81 and until recently (with the outcome of Ole Miss' season not producing the way it was and a lot of bandwagon-jumpers, obviously) come across people giving me a "Roll Tide" everytime I'm out in public displaying my "Bama attire. Most of the time I respond with a "Roll" and continue on, but would really like to know how you who actually live and breathe Alabama football and attend the majority of the home games respond to one another so I might be able to come up with something original for a change. Please help!!!

thanx,

Chris

Glad you bring this up... a sore spot for me....

In 1964 when I became a Bama fan and all the way through 1972 when I left to go into the Navy EVERYBODY (Bama Fans) I knew used "Roll Tide" as a greeting and a response. I grew up with that.
I have lived out of state for several years and notice 90% of the time when I see a person in Bama attire and throw out a hearty "Roll Tide" I just get a "Hi" or a smile or something like that.... Hardly ever a "Roll Tide" back.
I am almost at the point of explaining to the next person, the appropriate response is a hearty "Roll Tide", thank you very much.....
Geez!!! So, Chris, greet me with a "Roll Tide" and I will respond with a heart felt "ROOOLLLL TIIIDE"

Mine is usually something along the line of "Roll Tide, brother!"

Not often I run into Bama fans in Hermitage Tennessee though.

"Roll Tide" or "Yep."

Just to note: 97% of the time someone says "roll tide" to me, they are of an older generation. The term is losing popularity as a greeting and I don't think it's that big a deal.

That's what I love about being an Alabama fan! When I see another, they always get an enthusiastic "ROLL TIDE"!!!!!!

I was in New Orleans last year and we went to some packed out festival and then to the french quarter. I had on everything Bama. Someone told me to be careful that I was in LSU country. Didn't bother me, I'm a purdy big boy, lol. 6'7" 320lbs.

Well, to everyone's suprise, I was getting ROLL TIDE yelled at me constantly! I was having the time of my life! :BigA:
