How Other Teams are Defending Alabama in 2025

I hate to even say this because it sounds like an excuse but Ty is dealing with an undisclosed injury and it’s affecting his mobility and his accuracy some imo.

JessN touched on it a bit and gets a little more specific.

I think Ty is overcompensating at times in combo with his frustrations and he trying to either put too much mustard on the ball and it sails or even time he tries to guide the ball and it floats.

He’s not throwing in rhythm anymore and with his early season mechanics.

I think he was expected to have healed by now but its lingering and or getting re-aggravated every week taking hits.

Another reason I’d hope for us to go 10-2 but miss the SECCG.

That might give him a chance to get back to close to 90% or more and maybe play better in the CFBP if we can get there.
I agree. There was a play a few games back (mizzu maybe?) where he got tossed/flipped on a scramble run. He landed on his hip/lower back. You could tell he "felt" that one. I think he's been battling it ever since.

Auburn and possible future opponents’ defenses will be watching closely against E Illinois. It will be interesting to see how the backups play Saturday, especially QBs and Oline. If Ty is banged up, we've got see some strong backup QB play. I think I saw Russell warming up a couple of games ago when it looked like Ty might come out (but didn’t), so I assume he’s next man up. I think Carroll will be fine at OT with some more experience. Love his hustle. Let’s see what Lloyd can do, too.

We have been in a long cycle of not giving backups much of a chance to learn. Saban seemed to not want to put in the backups even when Bama was up by 40. DeBoer can't put in the backups because we are in a weekly dog fight. I wish next week would see the starters playing for a quarter then everyone else getting a chance to learn a bit.

If Ty is hurt then he needs to be limited against Eastern perhaps.

Let him get as healed as possible for a dogfight at the burial ground.

My ideal scenario would be to get up by 24-28 points in the 1st half and then bring in either Mack or Russell in whichever order and let them sling it for the remainder of the game.

The 2nd half would hopefully entail emptying the bench at every position and get the starters off the field and keep them healthy for AU.

Hopefully he only needs a half of work this week with no hits. I am hopeful he finds his accuracy. I think everything is in front of this team and we could not say this last year at this time. Roll Tide Roll

While that’s true everything is still in front, unfortunately the AU game is a must - win now for the playoffs.

Whereas before the OU game, we could have went in to AU and not have to be so uptight about it being a must-win.

Now AU gets to do what they live for, ruin Bama’s season at that dang haunted JH stadium.

Full disclosure: I certainly have no love lost on Kirby Smart. Matter of fact, I simply can’t stand him. But he said something that I think rings true in recent years here with our team, particularly the Oline.

Pretty much paraphrasing what Smart said was that “kids today are now concerned with the money. We as coaches are concerned with “physicality”. This is a physical game. We hit in practice. We hit in games. As player, you better be concerned more with being able to learn to play a physical game if you play here”.

Like I said paraphrasing but the major point is physical teams win in this conference. Yeah I understand schemes and certain players fit better. But IMO being physical and playing with an edge is as much a mindset/attitude as anything. I understand based on his offense CKD and Grubb want quicker and more athletic lineman. But unless you can bring that physical attitude and performance with you, I don’t see how much is going to change.

As Georgia was destroying Texas Saturday night, they showed a sweep with a freshman tackle pulling. The guy was huge. He came around that end not simply looking for someone to block. He was looking for some to absolutely bury.

Finally, I seen enough with this Oline. Missed assignments, poor communications, poor checks. And some of this is fundamental stuff. It’s time to move on.
Let me say one thing about the UGA v Texas game.

Most every game that I can recall that UGA ever lost Kirby was outcoached never not having equal or lesser personnel. He finally coached his team to a win against Texas. The onside kick at that time resembled Saban doing the same during the 2015 NC. He also elected to go for it on his own 35yd line with the game still in doubt using the play we best them with earlier on the year.

My ideal scenario for the Eastern Illinois game is to work on our running game with our starters...

Don’t know if I can handle that. Going to have a positive outlook as that game approaches. Got two weeks to fix what has ailed us and to get Ty healthy.

UGA sleepwalked through the first halves of most of their games this year. They seem to have "woken up" against Texas. Unfortunately, I think they're peaking at the right time.

And he’ll have had 3 weeks, or more I’d suspect, to scheme, tweak and employ that approach. O-line play and QB protection has to improve or it’s gonna be yet another stressful game to watch. Sadly enough that’s what I’ve grown to expect now.
I kinda miss joyless murder ball.
Joyless murder ball has been gone for 10 years.

It has its benefits but It is joyless even for many Alabama fans. It also wears their own team out since they are playing physical 12-16 games a year, the other guy maybe only vs you and another time or two.

I like this. Who cares the score, other than that we have more than them. This game should be about getting a lot of guys very meaningful reps. Just keep the lead, no matter what.

Scoring 40-45 points a game when you dont control the clock is not preferable to scoring 30-35 points per game where you do control the clock.

I think this is what CKD is after, clock control with efficient scoring. I dont think he is as concerned as much with how this is achieved, running v passing, but that it is achieved.
