Heh. Hard to believe the media is turning on him and actually calling him out for being the hypocrit he is. Wonder why it took them so long to figure out what so many of us have known forever.

It's hard to control those under your supervision when you can't even control your own emotions, or your body's reactions to those emotions.

I love how he says he's "learned to control" that now. Yeah. Right.

Thank you Sporting News for exposing a hypercritical holier than thou fraud. I'm sure we won't here a word from ESPN on the matter, just continued Petrino stories.

Saying suspensions are injuries tells me he knows nothing about teaching cause and effect. This guy lives in a bubble or something.

A bubble created by a hyper-controlling/never-approving father. Read about Urban's upbringing, and you'll see where it started.

The only word of caution I might have is how they went after Urban for "roster manipulation".

Let's be clear, the NCAA mandates a scholarship limit. This limit does not take into account injuries, needs at a particular position, academics, etc... It only says you can only have X number of football plays on scholarship and it goes beyond that to the extent it says you can't have players on scholarship in another sport (well I guess you can but it counts against the limit), having rules for recruited players, etc... The point I'm making is, they put these hard rules on a coach, and somehow scholarships have been misrepresented to mean it's some sort of permanent commitment to a player. I played organized sports, the coach never gave us a roster at the start of the season's first practice saying who was on the team already, there was never an promise carried over from one season to the next. You earned your spot each and every year. Frankly, I'm confused as to why this seems to anger people in the media. Are they just completely isolated from the notion of performing to earn something?

Having said that, I have very little respect for Urban. Here's someone who would do anything to win, but quit when he realized he couldn't be as good as Saban. That told me all I needed to know about his character. He rode Tebow to a couple championships, and then got out before his own creation tarnished his image. Then, when he saw a much easier opportunity in a conference whose best team would have finished fourth in the SEC West last year, he took it. I guess the main advantage there is there's no Saban (and their best coach after Urban would probably be the SEC's fourth or fifth best). I wish failure upon him, but if he brings SEC style football to the Big 10 it will be hard to fail.

I am so glad UM is at OSU, can't wait to watch that program implode! I also don't believe he'll have much success at OSU either. Oh, he may have some good years but I don't think he'll sniff a BCS title game before he is ran out of town or has another case of "health issues" again. It's going to be fun to watch!

Thanks, very interesting.

I think Florida will come back fast. Things are usually neither as bad nor as good as they might seem (I think this is what Muschamp was trying to say in his quote at the end). Florida (as a state) is an attractive destination to spend a few years, and will always get its share of athletes. The Gator's current weakness is at least in part because of Muschamp releasing the trouble-makers, which will pay dividends sooner rather than later. They may not be in the championship mix for several years, but they will be back to decent 3 loss seasons soon.

That's a pretty damning piece when you look at the whole article. To me, the most telling thing is the preferential treatment and outright pandering to his star players - he tore that team apart from the inside out.

If the stuff about Harvin and others is true, it seems as though much of Urb's stress was self inflicted...

Hard to see it any other way but that imo.

Pat Dooley was on JOX today and confirmed almost everything in the piece. He said they've known it down there forever but could never get it on the record.

Edit: Now that it's out there, all the Florida guys are gonna pounce on this. Dooley told that in his piece tomorrow will be an incident that occurred right after Meyer left to illustrate the sense of entitlement that Meyer had instilled into the players. He said when Muschamp, who had just arrived in Gainesville, called in Janoris Jenkins to tell him that he was suspended for being arrested for a 3rd time, Jenkins's response was an incredulous, "Do you know who you're talking to?!" And of course we all know he never played another down for the Gators after that. Dooley also confirmed solidly that Percy Harvin was coddled beyond belief, and that almost all of his "migraine" issues that he missed games for were failed drug tests

Well, it has appeared to me that Tebow actually led the team ~ and now I see that he did. That Circle of Trust is an eye-opener.

As to what he does at tOSU we must remember he has only one real game each year.

Well, this author also wrote this in January. If you don't want to read it, he called Meyer the best coach in CFB now above Saban.

Over/under on how many seasons he stays at THE OSU before he has more health issues and runs off somewhere else, leaving the program to suffer the consequences of his inability to effectively lead men.

I'll say about 5 or 6 seasons.
