If OwenField Dreams or any other Sooner fans are lurking, I'd like to get your take..

If my info is correct and (everything I have been told so far has happened) I believe that it is correct. Then you are exactly right. Stoops has been looking for a way out since this summer. MemphisTider's blog carries a lot of weight. A little more conspired a than I have been told, but pretty close. This is not a "done deal" but I've been hinting to him most of the week and I will gladly post I was wrong if he isn't hired early next week.

I agree with you about everything except putting a lot of weight in MemphisTider's blog. Since the day Shula was fired, he was "reporting" SOS was coming to Bama.

However, Stoop's situation = growing legs. I'd gladly eat a years worth of crow if we get Stoops.

as an OU fan... you guys are nuts. Why would Bob take a side-step? (this happens every year for us OU fans, and every year, Bob says he is very happy. He also has a HUGE bonus coming to him in 08)

Go read up on what happened with Bomar. You will find that Stoops kicked him off the team, not the AD.

And NCAA punishment, is not "looming". Maybe for basketball, but not football.

Good luck in you coaching search, but it was a mistake getting rid of Shula. And a bigger mistake by the AD to not have a hire ready. Cost you in recruiting already.

You are exactly right about the SOS stuff that was coming off of there. I meant this piece carrying some weight. I just feel from everything that I've been told he wants out of OU. What better to solidfyyourself as one of the greatest if not the greatest college coach of all time then by winning MNC at two of the most storrid football programs in history. And BTW he would be the first to ever do it. Do you think that would forever immortalize his name?

I hope you are right! IF you are MM has pulled the greatest hat trick in Ncaa football history and looks like a genius. Tubby better reconsider the Miami job because his days are numbered!

No doubt and I think he'd be a better fit than Saban for some reason. OU and Alabama remind me of one another, as far as recruiting and tradition. We are getting someone great, it's good to be a Bama fan.

What evidence do you have that makes you think that? Please, share it with us.
EVIDENCE ?.............I DON'T GOT NO STINKIN' EVIDENCE!!! :biggrin2: Actually, it's just a culmination of bit'n'pieces......nothing concrete for sure. Just a lot of small snippets that point in the same direction. Maybe we will know for sure, soon.

There's two things about the blog that do not make sense.

1) Spurrier does NOT owe us anything. I doubt very seriously that Spurrier somehow feels guilty about turning us in. Even if he happened to be wrong about that particular incident.

2) Let me get this straight, Stoops wants to be part of a "clean" program, so he is going to leave his current post for a HC job at a university that is currently under probation.

And this actually makes sense to y'all?

I was thinking the same thing about SOS also,,,and i was wrong!

You are exactly right about that SFT. Stoops has been what I've been told for over a week now. SOS I was told was a smokescreen. The Saban stuff my friend could not get any clear info on. That may wind up being the case, but from everything I was lead to believe the University does NOT want to deal with Sexton anymore than they absoloutely have to. Either way I know one of us should be right come Mon. or Tues. and it will be a glorious day for the Tide once again.:biggrin2:

Last night you were all about NS. I've gathered you've been given some insight about NS, other than your gut. However, tonight you are on the BS bandwagon. Have you gotten more info about Stoops or are you going off of the blogspot or gut on this one?

Like I said I don't conspire to believe everything in this blog, but there are parts that are documented and very true. What I have been told is he felt like people above him knew these things and sat on the a**** rather than reporting it to the NCAA. The main reason is because of like it says in the blog. The NCAA was not real happy with how CKS had a outright disregard for Rules.
I'm not sure if the blog is right about the penalty having already been issued to there basketball program, but if it has then this stuff with the football program falls them under repeat offender status.

Trust me he knows that we come off of probation in a couple of months and has been given every assurance thatif a mouse farts the wrong way we report it. Not to say that we will never be looked at again I'm sure eventually the NCAA will come snooping again, but according to my friend our compliance is light years ahead of where it was.

SOS was never a real viable option. Two years ago he would have been. Was there intrest yes, but he likes his situation at USC. And BTW don't be surprised if SS Jr. isn't the next coach there. (big issue)

And no he didn't go along with this because he owed us one, more like to get what he wanted from South Carolina and it be there idea not his, and to help out some personal friends no more no less.

Who's your friend (no name is necessary, but who are they to know these things for the last week about BS?)

It's hard to get a firm grasp of the direction Bama is going in regards to their coach. The last two days everyone seems to be so sure of NS and seem to have strong reasons to back it up. This morning on ESPN Radio, Mel Kiper Jr. was asked about the Bama job. He talked about how it is one of the top five jobs in the country and if he were a coach he'd be all over it. Also, when asked who he thought would get the job, Kiper Jr. responded that he had been hearing Jon Gruden. I haven't heard his name a lot, but would be thrilled to have a coach of his caliber. Jerry Dinardo and lots of others seem to think the obvious choice is RR and he's simply using "coach talk" to side step the questions. Tonight, the same people so sure of NS are suddenly talking about BS. I wish I just knew who Bama was going to hire so I could get on with my life. I think all of the coaches mentioned would be miles ahead of the train wreck we've had the last few years. Hopefully we will soon have an end to this search and a plan in place to take Bama back to the top where they deserve to be. Roll Tide!!!:BigA:

Actually, this sorta mirrors my line of reasoning, to a certain extent, deliveryman.
By the way, the Bob Stoops rumor really intrigues me. This would fit with some of the comments by those a little more "in the know" when they say that the hire would be a "coup." It would also fit with Shaun's statement of "shocking the nation." We will see. If Mal's interviewing tonight and tomorrow, we might start hearing some leaks by tomorrow night. The next few days will be fun, to say the least.
BTW, I stole this quote from another thread. It was by Houndstooth, & I hope he doesn't mind me "borrowing" it. :biggrin2:

Let's just say I trust this person immensely. They have known longer just told me a week ago. When they told me to look for Shula to be fired by Monday.

And I really can't say how they would know this information. Has it might just allow someone else on here to figure out who it is and I can't do that, because this person really is a friend.
