I'm getting a good feeling that Bama will beat the barn

Buzzard and I think a lot alike. Our OL and DL have not playing as well as they need to in order to beat Auburn. That said, if they find a way to improve over the next two weeks, Bama has a great shot at'em.

The game is in our house this year, and Bama hasn't lost at BDS since 2007. The team has played much better at home than on the road.

Also, Auburn is giving up an average of 25 points per game. They are undefeated because they are outscoring opponents rather than stopping them cold. If we can do what LSU did to'em, I like our chances even more.

I don't see their defense holding all of our weapons in check. Not at BDS...

Football games are won and lost on the line of scrimmage. I hate to be the Debbie Downer but I've seen absolutely nothing about our offensive and defensive lines that indicates to me that we can stop them offensively or stop Nick Fairly and #94 from absolutely abusing the middle of our OL.

I hope I'm wrong but this game could get ugly, very ugly.

You're right especially with Fairly playing, notwithstanding the fact he is ugly, he's also one if not the dirtiest player in CFB!

I think we face an uphill battle against them. We have not been forceful at the LOS all year. We do not defend the run very well, and our pass rush has been sub-standard.

Now for the good news. The offense has shown glimpses of being very good, and a very good offense against their D can light up the scoreboard. The key to me is finding things that will work offensively. Running between the tackles won't work, but running wide has worked against them. We rarely use the quick toss sweep, but it works. I think they are weak in the secondary - we've looked good in the hurry up spread. Coach said last night he likes that and wants to see more of it. Let's give em the 5 wide look that blitzed Penn State and the hurry up and see how their D likes it.

Finally, we have to execute the simple things. Tackle Can't Afford Me low, catch passes that hit you in the gut, keep your assignment against all the motion and crap they'll throw at us.

If we play man to man in the defensive backfield, who in the front 5-7 can run with CN or AU's other speedsters? Our linebackers still struggle to get off blocks. The defensive line hasn't shown yet that we would match up well with Auburn's very solid front.

To win this game we will have block and get off blocks like we haven't done before, play quicker than we have showed before, and play meaner than them. Its' a pretty daunting task.

If Bama corrects these things for the Iron Bowl I think we'll win. If not then I think we'll get the brakes beat off us. Pretty simple and realistic perspective.

Alrighty, then. That's more like it. There is that chance that they'll correct these mistakes for the most important game of the year.

In my coaching, I just can't stand to see players, parents, etc. throw in the towel. If you think like that, you've already forfeited. If the team I coached thought that way last weekend, we wouldn't have upsetted the nine-time-in-a-row state champions.

Of course, in the end, no mattter what happens in two weeks, the barn will lose the ultimate war because of what went on off the field.

some of you need to take off your crimson-colored glasses and look at reality. we have ZERO pass rush, the O-line can't seem to protect our QB or get any push up front for the running game, and McElroy refuses to trust his reads and throw the ball DOWNfield. it's been an ongoing problem all season long and has yet to really change. if we stand any chance at beating auburn, all of those things have to change.

we'll have to use the Tebow strategy to attack Newton to be effective. you have to spy him, keep him in the pocket, make him read the defense and not let his legs bail him out. that also depends on our DB's not peeking in the backfield and getting burnt over the top. our offense also has to wake up and score TD's, not FG's. i don't think anyone(including Saban) expects our D to hold up against their O all game long. they'll get their points, but we'll also have to get ours and plenty of them.

it's going to be an uphill battle all game long, and we'll virtually have to play a perfect game to win. I have a good feeling about this game, but I also like to keep a level-head about this situation, too.

Also, who knows how that bye-week will affect Auburn. It may throw off timing or whatever. It will be a close game, but I am glad we get them at home. Otherwise, I chalk it up as a loss. They haven't really played anyone on the road (and I still cannot believe they only have 4 away games. I guess that's how the cards fall sometimes).

Most SEC teams only play four or five road games each year. The home games pay the bills.

I believe it was a valid point about having only four home games. I believe we play two non conference legitimate here/there games vs Penn State and Duke and Auburn has one against Clemson, which was at Auburn this year.
So it pays bills, but our games against other Bcs conferences helps recruiting.

Every team that had a legitimate shot to beat Auburn came to Auburn this year. Which I say is Georgia, LSU, South Carolina, Arkansas and Clemson. All of those games were at home! It's nearly like Auburn puts all their eggs in one basket every other year. And maybe the momentum will get them past us.

If they beat two of their three weaker teams on the road this year by a combined 6 points, odds tell me a stronger Georgia, LSU, SC or maybe Clemson could have beat them at their own place. Auburn only beat Clemson by 3 at Auburn.

I see this as strong talking points in the next two weeks. Auburn has played like a very average team on the road, and they are about to enter a whole new world unlike anything they've seen this year. The best team they've faced, with 101 thousand screaming, mocking fans.

The things I'm about to say mean absolutely nothing, but I'm going to say them anyway. I'm also fully aware that you can't predict one game based on others. So having said that....

Arkansas scored 20 points on us in their own stadium. They scored 43 on Auburn at Auburn. They still lost, but that's not the point.

Auburn beat MSU by a touchdown. We beat them by 20 and we all know that everyone brings us their 'A' game. We also mainly ran 2nd and 3rd string players for most of the 4th quarter. Let me also add that MSU was playing a very emotional game because of the Nick Bell situation. They really wanted a win.

I have a sneaking suspicion that we lost to LSU (barely) because the team is focusing on Auburn. I'm not saying that we looked past LSU; I'm saying that it makes me wonder if the real focus is on Auburn. Last year, the team barely escaped a couple of games because they had Florida on their minds all year.

MSU runs a similar offense to Auburn. Not quite as effective, but we did well against that style of offense, although in a "watered down" version. The announcers even made a comment about this last night.

Nick Saban will have the team prepared. Think about it; we have a chance to knock Auburn out of playing for a national championship and those opportunities don't come along every day.

But I have a good feeling about this game, also.

I don't think we can take the attitude keep the ball on time of poss because they score quick, We need big plays like last night,I also think we can slow their big plays down, not stop them from moving the ball mind you, just make some big plays on offense and special teams get ahead early turn our D lose and disrupt their offense like they havn't seen before, and create some turn overs. As long as we don't get in a situation where we have to come from behind, we can win this game.

We definately need to jump on them early,I don't really think they will defiate from what they do,because they do it well they believe in what they do,we have to do what they did to us last year,then our D will become more aggressive like last night and put cammy in some tough places get some picks. UT just beat Ole Miss by 38. AU only beat them by 20.

I think two plays made by the Good Guys last night were a message to the barn. One was GMAC's short quick pass to Ingram in the flats that went for a score. The other was the end around to Jones that also went for a score.

The message: Better think twice about sellout blitzes up the middle.

if i were to guess how this game will unfold & try to simplify all the comments that have been made, IMO i think that aside from home field advantage, our special teams win this game for us! they have been solid all year & i think a week from friday will be their coming out party. Just my opinion

I think most on this thread have made accurate statements and our poor offensive line/defensive line play confirms. The barners have demonstrated they can score. I still question a team that gives up the points they do? They kind of remind me of a run and gun basketball team that plays no defense minus the dirtiest player in the country. However..........I think that we have their number from a coaching and player skill perspective. Last year they shut down our man (Ingram) and we had options. Who do they have after we contain Newton? They can not run against us and the yards they do get will be from Newton on scrambles. All their tough games were in their stadium and more than a few should have gone the opposite but they didn't. But they us in our house. Sorry but I believe and think we have a great game. Our guys will step up and play hard. RTR :BigA:
