Besides Davidson's personal tragedies and Steele's injuries, TV announcers mentioned that there were some issues within the team which aren't public.

Anyone know if these issues truly exist and if there is hope for resolution? Not looking for specifics if these issues need to remain private, just looking for some hope for this season.

the internal problems are a couple players on the team striving more to up there nba stock rather than striving to help the alabama basketball program. i wont say exact names but one is a center and the other is a small forward.

If that be the case I would expect CMG to take control of the situation and bench the ones involved. But I have no inside knowledge as to these allegations so I will have to rely on Coach to make the right descision, like I have a say in it anyway, lol!:biggrin2:

Anyone who thinks that any player who has a chance to be drafted in the next couple of years isn't thinking of how he looks to scouts is just crazy. I'd say the only player not playing within his abilities is JD. Some of the squad have the usual assortment of family woes, etc., but that is true on any squad in America...

i have heard things from a starter, via family friend, that some players are casuing some major distractions among the team.

the only "real" nba prospects on that team is steele, if healthy, and gee, if he wakes up. hendrix and davidson cant play in the nba becuase i don't think they have the heart or desire to. if hendrix wants to play in the nba is philosophy on basketball will have to change. there is no mut need for a 6'7" scoring power forward. that position is for playing defense and getting rebounds, neither of which richard has done this year.

Hendrix probably still has a little bit of growth left...or at least I hope. He needs to grow an inch or two to help his stock. 6'9" or 6'10" is a good NBA height for his style...6'7"-6'8" not so much. Hendrix really isn't a high-riser and getting up-and-down the court doesn't seem to be his style. If you're going to be an undersized PF in today's NBA, you have to have hops and be able to get out on the break like a Phoenix's Marion. His style lends itself more to the tempo and scheme of the Pacers; half-court driven, low-post oriented teams. Hendrix's stock has probably actually fallen since coming to the Capstone, but I thought he was going to be disappointed on draft day anyway if he declared.

I hate to be negative, but if Gee thinks he's first round material he needs to open his eyes. He can't take anybody off the dribble and only scores in transition it seems. Gee can be very, very good, but he has to improve his handle on the ball so he can start isolating on his man and get into the paint.

Steele is hurt and that has killed his stock too. Even if he recovers this year or next year, I bet his injury history will still turn some teams off. I think he's the only guy on the team with a legit NBA skill set. He can hit a jumper, he has speed off the dribble to penetrate (when healthy), and has superior ball skills. His game would actually translate to the pros even better than college because the lanes are wider due to the 23 foot 3pt line.

Pretty much, nobody on the team should be worrying about the NBA because they are in for a rude awakening. The only guy who is NBA-ready won't go because he's had a horrible injury-ridden year. Focusing on winning would be a lot more intelligent goal.

If these guys are focusing on the NBA somebody needs to explain to them that the get a lot more attention from scouts if they are helping a TEAM be highly successful.

Steele shoud not even be starting much less an NBA prospect. We are best with Steele on the bench - he is not an asset on the court this year

Hollinger at the point - Steele on the bench

I'm not a basketball expert so forgive me if I am wrong, but is it designed for JD to shoot three and be out at the top of the key most of the time. He seems to shoot a lot of threes and try to dribble inside like a guard. why does MG let this continue if it isn't designed? Your thoughts?

I dont claim to know our basketball philosophy very well but i do know we run the high post. This means that Davidson will come out often to set picks and open up back door cuts that is why is he out there so much. I dont think he is supposed to shoot as many 3s as he does....I think gee has a legit NBA shot if he plays more like he did at the beginning of the year....his shooting has gone flat as of late. I think what we gain from Hollinger is a greater defensive presence because of steele's injury but we lose something on the offensive end.

I am too lazy to do this but.......I would love to see some Win - Loss stats of when Hendrix is scoring and we win and Hendrix is not scoring and we loose.

He is shooting almost 62% from the floor.

It just seems in the games we have won - he gets a lot of touches and in the game with Arkansas in the 2nd half last week we almost came back because Hendrix got it nearly every time down the last 8 min.

Today, 7 for 11 from the floor and 14 points.
