My favorite team quickly became the Crimson Tide, owing in no small part to the storied nature of the program.
As had been the case with the Montreal Canadiens and their rich history...
Even in my late teens, in the late '70's, if I had to choose between going to the park with the cute girl around the corner, or watching Keith Jackson call an Alabama football game, there was, effectively, no choice to be made...
I vividly remember watching "The Goal Line Stand" with my best buddy, who helped nurture my interest in US college football. Sensing even then that I may have been witnessing history...
I had a Sports Illustrated cover of Coach Bryant in my law school dorm room in the '80's...
And recall impatiently waiting for the Street & Smith college football edition to come out in late Summer...
Lost both my Dad and my best buddy last year, which may help explain why I was inspired to write such a lengthy post in reply to this great thread...
I haven't had an interest in pro sports for decades, and have become a deeply passionate Alabama football fan over the years.
And I wouldn't have it any other way...
