Is Nick Saban costing us in the polls?

This was not meant to be an anti Nick post. The early polls do matter. Do you think if USC wins out, LSU wins out and Oklahoma wins out that the Sooners will be playing for the national championship? I dont think so. If we go 14-0 then we will be #1.

IF we beat a ranked team (ARK), then an argument could be made that we rank in the top 25. Right now, I wouldn't vote us any higher than we are at present. That doesn't mean that I'm in agreement with the present rankings of the top 25...

Yep...the only I-A opponent we faced will not likely even go bowling. We deserve to be on the cusp of the top 25, but not in it until we beat someone decent (Ark).

CNS is not costing Bama being ranked. Honestly, after last season, Bama was lucky to get a bowl bid. They stunk last year, but that all is behind us now. Bama is back and will have to fight and win and win, they will and all the rest will follow.

I think that we will find that Vandy is a very good team, but they are Vandy and they will have to win a bunch of games to get noticed by those with votes. The win over Vandy has been completely discounted, and it shouldn't be. Our performance last year has us out of the polls.

Still, 2 weeks of FB is not enough to know who deserves a ranking. Just look at Michigan. Plenty of people might not have ranked them in the top 5 to start the season, but who can honestly say that they wouldn't have been in their top 25?

Simply not enough data until enough games are played. Saban's reputation has nothing to do with it. If anything, it will help (if we get on a roll)...

While it would be nice to be crying in December about Bama being left out of the BCS title game, I doubt that will happen. I'm sure as heck not worried about the polls now.

PP, with all the respect I can muster...what made you question this? Does a poll in early September mean that much to you? Is Coach Saban at the controls of these polls which don't mean a thing at this point?

After asking this question, what would be the response from fans that you would expect? Don't worry about the polls, if we beat the teams that we play against, the polls will take care of themselves no matter who our coach is.

I just hope Coach Saban doesn't come on here. And I don't know why I clicked on this thread.
