Is Shula Ultimately "The Man"

Independent of what you think Mike Shula "deserves," how legitimate you believe the oft-repeated excuses are, etc., how many here believe--deep down--that Mike Shula is the long-term answer for our football program?

I'd like to see this thread stay up. In the past, people have gotten so emotional, on both sides of the question, that the thread has had to come down. Tonight showed that he can really call a game, when his back is against the wall. Our only chance was to play with our backs to the wall and that's the way he called and we played. It does leave you with the "what if" question. All in all, we need a return to college methods. To a great extent, our team is run like an NFL franchise, which it is not. Replacing assistants alone won't solve that problem...

I did have that "what if" feeling tonight. He took some chances and generally appeared to have called a good game. No doubt that we played to win vs playing not to lose. We were just outmanned tonight and as others have said, our lack of conditioning combined with our lack of depth ultimately led to our fallout in the 2nd half.
I cant' help but wonder what could have been if Shula had approached every game with this same mentality. I'm just afraid that it may be too little to late as we've seen a whole lot of the other way of coaching and not near enough in line with tonight's approach.

Now that Auburn has been further exposed, it really puts the pressure on Coach Shula to pull off a win next Saturday at home ... not just a "we played with heart" loss.

The scary part is he was so stubborn that he had to be forced to make changes in fear of job security or an all-out riot...:wink:
Is that the first time he has thrown deep to Darby all year? Where was that onside kick 8 games ago?

Could I get some of what you're having? Cause that is spot on in my book. It is, IMO, this NFL fact that is causing him the biggest headaches. For the life of me, I don't understand how Kines, Radar, and Woods have not made needed dents in that mentality by now though.
