Is Stoops a real possibility?

On the Miami Scout board the Hurricane fans seems to think Stoops is in play and want their AD to go after him. I actually think that would be a good match for them, but doubt they have the money. And from the rumors I hear (4 Mil per year) we may not want to go there either.

If he's willing to sign a contract for 4 mil a year AND a 20 million buyout, it'd be worth it. Check out the money he has brought in at Oklahoma.

I don't see CBS leaving OU for Miami. That place really has become a dump. OU has nice facilities and great tradition and I feel if he wanted to leave that he would only consider a place that could offer equal or better in both categories. Bama could offer that. Miami can't.

Miami had a year similar to Bama's (minus the riot) in terms of disappointing losses. Both teams finished 6-6. Did Bama ever have a home game where 20,000 people attended? Nuff said.

Guys, if there is NCAA trouble for OU there is NO WAY Alabama will hire him. That would be a PR disaster. Our enemies would pounce on Alabama. Forget it.
We need to be hiring the NEXT Bob Stoops and build our own program back. I was excited about the possibility of Spurrier and Coach Oliver coming because CSS would have taken the talent we already have and whupped fanny next year and we all know what CBO can do.
That said I am convinced that we need to find the next CSS. He was recruited out of Duke for goodness sakes!! We just have to have confidence in our leadership to know who that person is.
Either way I choose to be exited about our future. Get fired up !! RTR

Cheers

In my opinion, no. That being said, I am getting tired of people accepting as "fact" that OU has as much tradition as we do. Does OU have tons of tradition? Yes, they do, but not as much as we do. They have us beat on Heisman winners but that's about it(they have vessels, sims, owens, and white, while we have none). It's hard to find much of anything that their program did of noteworthiness before 1950, when at the same time we were winning rose bowls and NC's in the '20's and '30's. Do they have a lot of tradition? Yes, but we have more. and we have better facilities.

i wouldnt count stoops out till after their bowl game. MM says we're in no great rush. stoops likes alabama ,has said so in the past. OU ncaa probs arent his fault totally. he learned from SOS . he does it right. and isnt soft on disipline, ask bomar. stoops is the one i want. he believes in defence. and can handle the bama pressure cooker. the best fit of them all. my .02

Man oh man, folks, I gotta tell ya, I have heard nothing, I've read absolutely nothing, zero, zilch here in Oklahoma about any of this. Not anything about Bob being unhappy, nothing about him being contacted, I mean nothing. Now, when UF came calling, believe me, we heard plenty. I have no inside source, I don't know anybody that works at OU, but it's weird that if something was even remotely in the works, we'd at least hear something.
I'd never want to come across as a cocky Sooner, or show Bama any disrespect in any way, but I just don't see it.

wishbone, i really don't think that you folks have anything to worry about. I wish we could steal him away from ya, but like you say it really appears that he is happy where he is. by the way, hasn't he only been offered about twenty different jobs in the last five years?

Is Stoops a real possibility? Yes. Is he a long shot? Maybe, but no more than Saban, or Spurrier, IMO. If any of the rumors are true, then you have to think CMM would be foolish not to follow up on them. Stranger things have happened.
