Jalen Milroe is now the starter going forward.

Saban told ESPN that Milroe was "initially frustrated" when he learned the other 2 QB's would play. Nobody will really know to what degree he was frustrated. When a player gets benched it's natural to feel some frustration but it sounds like Milroe was never suspended.

getting Tyler from ND was detrimental to lockerroom ... its strange lockerroom dynamic since we never heard such things when Coker came over.
I want to go back to your cricket analogy

That was only time I was convinced I would have passed better than lame duck Bama QB .. and mind you I have never held football in hand .. sports like cricket tennis but never held a football

:)
As Johnners would have it from the Long Room, Buchner was out for a duck - almost a golden duck. Fiery Freddie Trueman's rejoinder: Simpson simply didn't have time to duck.

And Jake Coker did not go duck-duck-swanning about but was welcomed with open arms at 'Bama after he saw the chalk talk on the blackboard about backing up a Heisman-winning crab legs thief.

Both sides of this issue can keep bickering back and forth and no good can come of it. The only answer at this point is to let time judge who really has a grasp on what is best for Alabama football ( as far as this board goes. ) I have an opinion, so does several others, but for the sake of the board let’s get back to being “ Bama “ fans. I guarantee you I will be pulling for everyone wearing Crimson Saturday and so will all of you.

I’m not even sure why some are labeling Ty as just a ‘game manager’?

How do we even know what he is yet?

He’s played 2 quarters and 5 mins of meaningful ball on a soaking wet field.

Him being a game manager is probably his floor.

But he also might be another AJM or better.

He displayed a high level of Accuracy and touch with plenty of arm strength on his throws.

Yes he took some sacks but most of them he had like 1.2 secs before he was draped in defenders.

I only really remember 1-2 plays where I thought he held onto the ball excessively long.

But even then that’s better than just throwing the ball right to the dang defenders.
Pretty hard to read a Defense from the bottom of a pile isn't it? If that is what these guys expect? Then Simpson is not the guy. I was not for any particular player at QB, but 2 guys on Bama Standard made up a narrative in explaining why Simpson was thought to be the next starter. Reasoning was that most Bama fans are from the South. I first heard this BS on there. One would think Simpson has personally lost 5 games by certain posters here. Heck I am all for whoever is in there, but if Jalen has a thousand yds rushing, then the Offense has a problem. That will most likely mean the OL didn't get it done. OL has to be a force. After 3 games in..it has not been, but it seems that QB play is the culprit.

This QB thing has made me stop watching The Bama Standard show. There aren't so veiled reason given on there as to why some people think Simpson would be better than Milroe and it has nothing to do with actual data. I'm sick of it.

Just go play the game and be sound, play well instead of like a mess.

I think our Oline is better than they looked Saturday. Good enough to win the West? Idk. But I think Saturday a was a fluke in some ways. The o line played well enough against MTSU. They didn't against Texaa, but that was.Texas. That's one of.the best D lines we.will.see.all year.. I will be interested in how they play Saturday, because the USF game doesn't really align with the MTSU game. If I had to guess, they are probably somewhere in between really bad and good enough to win the West.
I like it. Jmo but this post is thought out with a mixture of fact and hope. Can't help but wonder why Bo Davis is living in Austin and not Tuscaloosa. I kept hearing Davis had baggage, but it sure looked like he had all he needed 2 weeks ago. Looked to me like Wolford needs some himself. There is something to hope for.

I stopped watching too. Some lousy Bama sites out there, but some are as good as their info could be. I realize Saban is tight with media and for good reason.

I don't think i've posted in this thread, but one thing i disagree with is the ceiling coment on JM vs the other QB's.
If Jalen can learn to look off the safety and learn the QB position why does anyone have a higher ceiling?
Our fat O'Line needs to do better or no QB is gonna look pretty, but lets say the QB has plenty of time....JM can still connect on passes IF learns how to play like a ball distributor that analyses the field. Can he learn that quickly? Can we run an offense that plays to his skillset?

Well, we have OC's that are supposed to figure that out. We also have some good RB's but if the O'line or the playcall is bad we will struggle. I havent looked but i think our RB's are averaging pretty good yards per attempt.

This could be a year Saban shows how to get the team better or the usual suspects will say Dabo...or no i think he's out...so maybe Deon will be the flavor of choice. I like Saban as long as he will stay.

This NIL...I wont even visit without 5000.00, I'll transfer if ....is gonna take a minute or two to figure out. My money is on Saban to do better than most with this crap.

I think this is different than the JUCO route. With the portal you have to be able to distinguish between the quitters and those hungry for a bigger opportunity. If you miss on a recruit, he might need another year than what you expected. With portal transfer, he just might be a bust and you were expecting him to come into contribute immediately.

Its NFL strategies of roster management with no cap. Just get the best player(s) you can afford...

This is his third year and he hasn’t learned it yet. Don’t give me the BoB nonsense because he’s had quarterback coaches over the summer who could teach him as well as the staff.

Milroe has terrible mechanics for short and intermediate passes. His windup is long, slow, and it wouldn’t surprise me if the ball came out with the same velocity as his deep throws do. This issue is compounded by his tendency to be late on his throws, which results in the ball behind the receiver on crossing routes and flares, and allowing the defense to break under outs and hitches.

In short, he’s had the chance to learn, and hasn’t. I don’t care if it’s Simpson, Lonergan, or Holstein, some younger player needs to get this game experience so there might be two good years of quarterback play.

If one looks at Tua or Bryce during their college careers it is difficult to see the ball go behind their helmets on any throw within 20 - 25 yards. All of the motion is out front as they accelerate their forearm. Milroe unfortunately has the ball behind his head with his chest out front then loads his forearm when he begins to accelerate the ball. Really difficult to get the ball out on time and hit receivers when there is a small window. I look at Tim Tebow with all of his success in college could never make it as a NFL QB.

I believe that you don’t need a QB to win a championship. But he can’t lose it.

And eventually I think it’s the team has to make the decision. Which is bad to begin with. But I think it’s where we are

This halftime may determine his next 5 years if his life. I’m concerned he will make the wrong choice.
