Here is the problem with your logic...having success in college doesn't correlate to success in the NFL and having lost in the NFL doesn't mean you'll lose in college. The problem with the comparison is this...in the NFL you're dealing with salary caps, free agency and frankly a lot of players who are total and utter jerks. Some days they'll play for you and others, they won't. In college, you do deal with personalities, but at that level, it is much easier to DISCIPLINE a player than it is when they are making more money than you! In the NFL they have access to the media, in college if a player speaks out, he's pretty much gone!
You can't compare coaching in the NFL or success thereof to coaching in college or vice versa. For a perfect example just look no further than Gene Stallings. And as for recruiting...the term "JUST WIN BABY" comes to mind. I don't care if you're the biggest jerk to coach a team, if you're successful the players will flock to you. As a prime example, look no further than HOOVER HIGH SCHOOL!
