Our linemen didn't seem to be suited to run much of anything the past four years. And if they might quit if faced with conditioning and hitting the weights, then we don't need them anyway. We already know how the laid-back approach to conditioning works, don't we? We need committed players who won't shy away from hard work. Our tradition was built on hard work and our future success will be built on it too.

When discussing #2 choices, I don't think anyone but Mal knows where they would look next. You would have to think that Paul Johnson would at least be in the top 5. Where he would fall in there is anybody's guess.

You would think they will have already interviewed their backup choice, ready to make an offer, if Saban turns Bama down, which I still think he will.

I stopped posting PJ threads for several reasons. One - every one was fixed on the option. Two Paul Johnson was being viewed in a wrong light. Paul Johnson can flatout coach. While I was in my Twilight Tour in the Navy I spent two seasons at Annapolis and watch the Middies practice. Most of the players would not make it playing at Alabama, USC, and other places. Coach Johnson had those players winning. Came very close to beating ND three times since his arrival. Played a tough Boston College bunch plus he showed he knows offense. Paul Johnson does not need me to tell everyone what he can do as a coach. Just tune in and watch his teams and you will go away a believer. Several odds makers had BC by as much as -21. Can Coach Johnson coach at Alabama? Yes he would win and win big at Alabama. :BigA:

I watched the bowl game and came away a disbeliever, game lost because of bad play calling, no second half adjustments at all. Navy played a heck of a game and should have won except for poor coaching decisions. I have watched a head coach make poor calls from the sidelines all year.
