anyone read Michael Crichton's "State of Fear"? It's his latest. If so what do you think. I enjoyed the book, but it has created quite a storm in some scientific circles.

Forgot to post my review. First, it wasn't bad. That having been said, it was Crichton's worst - by FAR.

Crichton spent way too much time going over and over his reasons for disagreeing with the current world view on global warming. He often interrupted interesting plot developments to go over it again, from a different angle. I found this extremely annoying, and I agreed with his view before even picking up the book.

While I am glad that I read it, I am sorry that I paid $20 for the hardcover. Should have waited for the paperback...

Thanks for the update

ny. The only other thing that I've read by him is "Timeline" - really liked it. I understand what you are saying about the science stuff - it was a bit much at times. I enjoyed the book inspite of that and honestly it was about the first negative thing I've read on the whole "global warming" thing.

Crichton is a excellent author. I'm not sure what novel I prefer but you cant go wrong with Timeline ( the book not the movie ), Eaters of the Dead, Congo.... well you get the point. He does TONS of research when
writing a novel.

Thanks

for posting bp79. I've read Timeline and it was wonderful. Didn't watch the movie, heard it was good. My experience is that movies can't hold a light to the book though.
