Just for the halibut... (what do you REALLY do?)

Elected Public Official (County Engineer). By the way, JDPAS29 and Bamabound2006, I noticed that you are both in the Chiropractic field. Do either of you know Dr. Randy Rhino? He has a chiropractic practice in the Smyrna area and is a former defensive back for Georgia Tech (early 70's). RTR

No, sorry!!! I'm not really in the Chiropractic field I'm more or less learning about it all as a high school student intern, but Semper JD may have a little bit of insite his practice is over around there.

I teach high school (Geometry, everybody's favorite math class :biggrin2: ). I also impersonate a JV football asst coach and--new this year--varsity girls asst coach (as of last night, we're 30-6 btw...). I also teach a very cool class called "Christian Worldview" which is more or less a high school philosophy class. I also teach as an adjunct professor @ USM. So basically, I'm in "will-teach-for-food" mode.

Great to hear you teach a class extolling Christian values, but I honestly don't see how you get away with it in a public school. Seems like the ACLU and Political Correctness crowd would be all over you guys.

HAHA! sad, but true.....I begged them to let me bring my prod, but alas, they said I'd get a lawsuit

I teach 6th Grade Soc. Studies (Ancient Civ.) in arnge hell. I have a few brave souls who wear BAMA gear in class. Maybe I can convert a few of these poor souls.

Hey Brannon,

As luck would have it... :) Seriously, when you get ready to settle down, you should consider practicing in Mississippi for a little while. There's a severe shortage and guys are naming their price!

We used...

to have a cat and a cat-herder - a little Shelty, named Molly. When she got bored, Molly would herd Natasha. I caught them many times, 'Tasha runnlng like hell for a tree and Molly running along-side, slipping her long nose under 'Tasha's belly and flipping her up in the air. They thought they were of one species and slept every night twined together. Late in Molly's life, when she was ill, 'Tasha would go and kill rodents and bring them back to Molly for her to eat - fair swap for Molly's having taken care of 'Tasha's kittens. As it turned out, Molly recovered for another year of life and 'Tasha died first, caught by a dog or something big enough to bite her collar into pieces. I'd built Molly's casket a year before, when she was so sick, and I buried her with 'Tasha's bones... Sorry for the reminiscing. "Cat-herder" brought back the memories...

Hey Earl, I hear ya, Cornflake is 11 years old, and while cats can live to be 17-20 years old, it makes me really sad to think that my bestest buddy one day won't be around anymore. He is just my best pal, he sits outside the bathroom door in the morning when I take a shower and waits for me to come out its so cute. Although he weighs about 20lbs. and has an affinity for using me as his personal bridge to any place he wants to be all the time, so I do get stepped on a lot, but thats okay I'm his mommy and he's my pride and joy. People talk all the time about hating cats but most who have met mine change their mind he loves people and purrs so loud he sounds like a cricket chirping.

y'all are making me sad....my one and only dog (a dachshund) I've ever had passed away before I went back to school last July. Rusty was 14. He stayed home with mom and dad while I was at school. When I'd come home, he'd come to life. I remember like yesterday, he'd fit into his water bowl and do circles. I guess it was good-timing, he didn't have to miss me anymore. Gosh, I sure do miss him though. He was a part of the family.

....Ok, so this is what we REALLY do....we adopt our pets and raise them like children.... :)

Pets...

do have their ways of getting to your heart!

We have a cat named Flash that we found at the Olive Garden. He was just a pitiful thing...it was November, cold and raining and he was a pathetic, meing, shivering ball of fur. Eight years later he thinks we are cats too. He loves football season because of all the people that come to the house. New laps to flop in, new fingernails to scratch behind the ears, new people to mooch food off of...and new people to sneak beer from!

Ah...I forgot to mention...it's not a public school. It's a pretty good private school.
